Do you still play "obsolete" games? Which and why?

Old games. Graphically obsolete. Translation errors. Etc.
Any game that you've beat long ago as a kid, or even a couple of years ago on the PS2. Games you never beat or played when the game boy advance was the system to get. The kinds of games that Final Fantasy XIII or KH:3D or God of War III make look like the original Super Mario. Games without voice actors or a touch screen battle system.

Do you still enjoy playing these "out of date" kinds of games?
Which games, if so, and why?

I have a problem with buying PS2 games that I played (or wanted to play) as a kid. They're all under $5 at Gamestop now, I can't help myself... I want them all. xD Right now I'm playing Rocket Power: Beach Bandits, for example, haha.

But I definitely play games that would be obsolete by today's standards--the only consoles I have are a Playstation 2 and the first Xbox. I see no pressing need to upgrade right now, I'm plenty happy with the games I have, and there's still such a large number I've yet to play for both systems.

That's pretty much the only kind of games I play. Mostly because I've never had a nice computer to run better games. My favorite games are:

Deus Ex: Has bad graphics, some terrible voice acting, and the AI is ******ed, but it has a lot of ways to play the game, an amazing story with plenty of twists and turns, and awesome stealth mechanics. It's also set in the near future, and seems like something that could actually happen, which gives it a great universe. System Shock 2 was similar, and made by the same company I think.

Fallout 1 and 2: Fallout 3 is my favorite game of all time, but where I first got introduced to the universe were these great hits. Once again, the graphics weren't great, but they were great games. They had great universes, a lot of dark humor, fun gameplay and good stories. It doesn't really give you much help though. It pretty much just throws you into the wasteland and makes you find things out on your own, which is good, because that's how it would be in that situation.

I still remember when I thought that Gex The Gecko 3 and GoldenEye 64 had amazing graphics. I do find that a lot of games that I played when I was younger I can't play now, but there are some exceptions.

A while ago i've been trying to get back every PS1 game i loved to play (And still do) that i lost.

Just recently beat Digimon Card Battle and Crash Bandicoot 3 again, still playing Digimon to get 100% and currently looking around for a cheap Tail Concerto, Spyro 2 or Megaman Legends(Never played it though, only Legends 2).

I replayed Jade Cocoon and the Spyro games last summer. I still like to pop the older FFs in my PS2 from time to time. So yeah, I still play old games.

I still play my old Zelda games - never get tired of them. Same goes for Sonic on the Mega drive and Mario on the SNES.

I recently began playing FFVI too. <3

I'm not sure if this is considered old, but the orignal Chain of Memories. I found it at a gamestop a while ago (for about $10) and decided to buy it so I could say that I had it. I owned the game before hand, and got really good at it, but I always seemed to lose them. I just started playing the game again and I find it funner than the PS2 remake (not to say I don't like Re:COM, I just find the GBA a lot funner). It brings back the young one in me, which is something I need to explore again.

I play pretty much my whole collection of "obsolete" games. The most common being Perfect Dark (N64), Digimon World and Digimon Digital Card Battle (PSOne). I also completed Jade Cocoon about five times last year lol.

Growing up, I had a NES, then Playstation, then PS2

    Final Fantasy I-IX
Always been a fan of the series. Out of them all, 4, 6, 8 and 9 are my favorites.

    Spyro: Year of the Dragon
Out of all spyro games this was my favorite. The comedy mixed with exploration made my love this game.

Crash Team Racing and Crash Bash
I loved the Crash games Pre-PS2, since I didn't own an N64, Crash was my Mario.

    Legend of the Dragoon
The longest game I had played in my childhood. After playing this, I got into the final fantasy genre.

Super Mario Bros. 3 and Duck Hunt
Yes it is ancient. Yes I still love to play it.

Games never become obsolete. Some just age better than others. The oldest game I've played in most recent years was probably Secret of Mana, if only to beat it. I'm currently trying to do a "perfect" run through Final Fantasy VII and after that I'll go to other FF games of the Playstation Era. Though...Final Fantasy II and IV seem to be the most important to play at the moment(for me).

I don't normally play games from ages ago because...I just don't get the urge to. D:

Tetris? That's pretty much as old as you're gonna get for a game people still love to play. Me included.

Actually, mentioning this thread, I recently bought a gaming PC and I've now found so many fun games that a re cheap to get on the PC. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is probably the oldest i've played recently, and surprisingly the graphics on it are pretty decent, even in the year 2011 when it was first brought out in 2003. One of the best games I've ever played and can now play it again! : D

Sonic R on Windows 98 pc. Yes that thing still runs. I love that game and that computer since it was the first computer I ever had. But it was a family computer. Good times.

    NES/SNES :
    - The Metroïd, Mario and Zelda games. A mouthful of nostalgia, especially Super Metroïd. That one never gets old.
    - FF6, the only old FF I could bring myself to play again.
I' m afraid I played Secret of Mana and Chrono trigger too much, can' t do that anymore.

PS1 : pretty much all the Squaresoft games I own, and Castelvania Symphony Of The Night.

I cherish my PS2 much more than my PS3, I don' t think it' s obsolete at all.

I have taken to playing Snake 2, Minesweeper, Tetris and Solitaire on my MP3 player. I think they count as obsolete.

Technically, I'm playing Final Fantasy VI...though I stopped recently in favor of my graduation. Aside from that, there's this annoying Kirby game I haven't finished when I was a kid. It's annoying because it doesn't save anymore. Nothing else. .___. I miss my carefree GBA days...

Man don't get me started on obsolete games, i own my Ps3 and 360 and the thing is, i play my PS2, Ps1, NES,Snes, Dreamcast and N64 more! Before my ex took her N64 back, I was playing Donkey kong 64, I never beat that damn thing, and I really wanted to, when I was a kid, it seemed so hard, but when I was playing it, omg was it easy lol. Next Game is Pokemon Blue and silver, I am addicted to my blue, no matter how much time goes buy i am addicted to this game, and the funny thing is i just bought it recently. I've also been playing FF9 and FF7, both amazing games indeed and I didn't even play them when I was younger. One game I would love to beat again is Rocket Power: Beach Bandits, I lvoed that gamer and spent my Life on it. basic thing I'm trying to say here is that I'm playing mostly all my older systems over my newer ones. I've also been playing Twilight Princess and Wind Waker REcently too. Also KH 1 and KH 2.

You bet. I have a Wii and a DSi, but I have much more fun playing games on my Sega Genesis, N64, PS2, and Game Boy Color. I just bought Banjo Kazooie off of eBay a few months ago and I've been working on beating it for a while now (I got Tooie first so things are a little out of order), and I forgot about some of the jokes and innuendos in that game that you miss when you're too little to understand them.

Heck, half the reason it took me so long to upgrade my DS was because I didn't want to lose my GBA slot. Even now I still play my Lite more than my XL because of that backwards playability with GBA games.

I still play a lot of Playstation 1 games. Like "Spiderman: Enter Electro", and a lot of other ones.

I still play Pokemon gold on my yellow GameBoy color.

IMO, most of the "obsolete" games are better than some of the new ones, thus why I prefer some of the old ones and why I'm picky about games. I mean, really. FFXIII starts almost the same way as FFVII. On a train with an Ex-Soldier of sorts and some black guy. Things just get repetitive, less original and colorful... Just saying.

I've got quite a few rather obscure games that I still play. I LOVE the Klonoa games. Ape Escape is very fun too. I've also recently decided to do a replay of Earthbound once I find a way to rip the ROM to my computer, though that's mostly to experience the copy protection that the developers made.
Porky: Maybe you shoulda bought the game, ya ******! *Game freezes and deletes all your saves*

Not to mention the increased difficulty.
