I will pretty much listen to anything. I pretty much like all music genres the same. I do sometimes go from having one favorite type to another, though.

I have a taste in rock...basically anything with a guitar...>>; Unless it's blues or jazz, I try getting into it but it's hard for me to find much that I like. I don't like death metal either. >> Eh. Classical music = <3 Just because it sounds nice and take a gigantic amount of skill to play.

I think that classical music is good because it can fit into almost any video game....and I think that everyone likes rock music...:)

Well I'm mostly into classic rock but I branch out here and there. Let's put it this way: If you told me to name my favorite artists I'd say Rush, Guns 'n' Roses, Van Halen, and you'd think I was a Rock 'n' Roll guy. But then I'd say Michael Jackson and Owl City. Then you'd just say I was weird. I also like classical like Mozart and Beethoven, a little blues and jazz here and there, and raggae. I don't like: 95% of rap, 95% of pop, 95% of metal, and basically new music. I feel like I was born 40 years too late.

I think that the reason I like rock music so much, Is because my dad was in a band that would play music by other artists and they made up their own songs.....I can't remember the name of the band, I will post it later when I find out....

Me? I'm into metal, punk, electronica, rock, jrock, and I may be getting into techno because I like the song Exploration of Space by Cosmic Gate. I just heard it like two weeks ago and it blew me away.

Welcome to the department of redundancy department.

There is no stylistic difference between rock and "j-rock." J-rock is simply an umbrella term I really ****ing wish was never coined to describe Japanese bands. It is NOT, I repeat, NOT a seperate genre.

And I'm sure all metal is garbage like Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, all rap is garbage like 50 Cent and all pop is garbage like Britney Spears. While I can't speak for hip hop and pop as I'm not very well versed in those genres, if you claim to hate all metal, you're probably falling into the ridiculous amount of people claiming all metal is "death metal." The quotes are actually because what most people are thinking of is black metal, which generally is quite harse and sometimes frightening.

Anywho, might I suggest looking into classic metal bands like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Dio? As well as some power metal such as Kamelot, Sonata Arctica and Blind Guardian and some progressive metal such as Dream Theater, Queensryche and Conception? If you're feeling particularly adventurous, there's sludge metal (such as Black Label Society and Mastodon) and death metal (Amon Amarth and In Flames). If you like classical, I would suggest symphonic metal bands such as Epica and Xandria.

Trust me, you don't know "95% of all metal." Its about as large of a genre as rock, far too big to generalize at all.

I'll listen to just about anything -- I love prettymuch all genres of music, if done tastefully. I listen to rap the least however, and lately I've listened to a lot of classical/orchestral pieces.

    ...no.

Language isn't what makes a genre, the music is what dictates what genre it belongs to.

Say an American rock band performed a one off song in Japanese, would you then say that that was J-Rock?

I'll listen to anything, but rock's my main thing. Especially indie rock.

I'm into a lot of old stuff too. P:

I can listen to almost anything, so my taste in music is rather broad.

So you're implying that everything that just so happens to be situated in japan and/or uses the japanese language needs a derogatory "J" added before the word?

That makes you sound incredibly idiotic, well done.

Nope. I love nearly all types. The only music I really don't like...is...Country. I don't know why. I just...Can't get into it. D: I don't hate it, but it's not my thing.

I think most of the bands in my playlists are indie rock, but I like other stuff too. :v

I tend to sway towards what I like to call "Music that doesn't sound like shit"

Most of you are unfamiliar with this particular type of music

OK, then why don't we call British bands b-rock or Finnish bands f-rock or American bands a-rock? The main issue here is the whole idea that Japan has to have its own separate genre simply for being Japanese. Its stupid unnecessary bullshit coined by weeaboo kids who think anything Japanese is inherently better. Why must Japanese bands be classified differently entirely because they are from a certain country when other bands, no matter where they're from aren't?

If you're really using Chinese food as a legitimate backup for your argument then you really are much more idiotic than I took you credit for. Chinese cuisine, if you haven't noticed, is pretty much widely different from the cuisine in other countries, and they have certain traits that differ them from other cuisine. Widely. Now lets look at J-Rock. Whats the difference? The language. Thats pretty much the only attribute that's apparently sufficient enough to separate itself into it's own contained genre. By the way, the Chinese food you find in takeaway restaurants is really quite different from the Chinese food you would actually find in China. Just thought I'd point that out.

Also, thats funny, I don't remember having to say "American hamburger" or "Italian pizza" just so I could make it clear to my friends what I was talking about. Try again next time.

    Lemme see...

What I listen to most is heavy metal(Black Sabbath, Metallica, Led Zeppelin).

But I also like listening to piano, country, Jazz, pop, acoustic, etc.

I hate things like hip hop, gangster rap, hardcore, trance, etc etc.
