Do you make Excel files to keep track of your purchases or what you collect?

    Because I do.

Partly because my brain is too frazzled to keep track of it in my head, partly because it gives me a visual of where I am collecting-wise and allows me to plan monetarily for what's to come, partly because I want a visual of it for documentation, but mostly because it's so damn fun.

I use it to schedule things generally, never thought of using it to catalog

I've tried to do it a number of times before. I took a computer class both in high school and in college that focused around tricks of using stuff like Word and Excel. I mainly wanted to use the spreadsheet to keep track of my DVD collection (since I am really into movies). I'd list the titles, what kind of format I had it under (DVD, Blu-Ray, digital download, etc.) and other stuff. I would mainly use it for things like Black Friday, when I'm looking for movies that are cheap and are not in my collection.

This should be a good year if I really get to work on it.

I spend 8 hours a day with spreadsheets and other Microsoft documents, **** that in my free time.
