Now that I actually think about it, I do like sad endings of movies. I guess it makes the story more relatable and realistic, as well as the characters. The happy endings with "the guy gets the girl" kind of thing is so cliché. The movies that have the sadder endings just seem better to me, and those end up being the movies that I love.

I like sad endings sometimes. I mean in real life the good guy doesn't always win and survive. I like it for the realism.

I enjoy sad endings because it leaves open ended questions for the viewer to keep entertained with until the possible sequal. Also, it's a nice break from the usual stereotypical crap of a hero that saves a damzel in distress and kills the villain.

Sad endings are ok but not if the villan wins. Unless they have a sequel where the hero wins. Like in Star Wars. Happy endings make me think of ways to improve life for some reason.

If the movie's good, yes. Sad endings are usually more realistic than happy ones.

And it's always nice if a movie gets to you emotionally, which is often the case with sad ones. That's what I think, anyway.

    I'll agree with this.

Happy endings are for fairytales and rarely occur in real life. Whilst sad endings are sad (lolwut) they are usually a more satisfying end.

That being said, I ****ing hate the endings to Moulin Rouge and Green Mile, I cry for like hours after both of those.

depends on how its done. It's nice to have a sad ending every now and then. I've seen way too many happy endings. It gets to be so predicable.

Oh yeah. There's nothing better than a twist at the end when the hero or an important character dies. It makes the film just that more dramatic and interesting.

    **** off.

    Slumdog Millionaire.

I'd pick a movie like that over one that reflected "real" life any day.

Sad endings in my opinion are good in some cases. It's not always worth watching. I also like happy endings, but if there is a sad ending, it won't always bother me.

I suggest you do. It's a brilliantly put together film.

It's not a light-hearted movie, or a "feel good movie" but it has a happy ending and it's beautiful.

As long as the ending fits.

Though, I do prefer happy endings. Sad endings usually leave me feeling melancholic.

Sad endings leave more of an impact. Especially if a character dies and either it makes an impact or it's one of those, "I feel so sorry! Nuuuu!!! DON'T DIE" type movies. Kinda like with Crisis Core...everything went wrong with Zack and he died. It had an ending that stuck with me more than any other game. >> Movies can do that too. D8

If its appropriate. Can't see why a movie like Alvin and the Chipmunks would have a tear jerker finale.

Any kind of ending can be good if it fits the overall theme of the film like a suit. Although I kinda have a thing for ambiguous endings. You know, when the story ends on a "Hurray but..." note. I like those.

I don't think I've ever seen any movies that had sad endings...

And I haven't heard of many that have sad endings either...
