Do You Have a Famous Ancestor?

I was watching SpongeBob and they were talking about famous ancestors, and my dad brings up that I have a famous great-great uncle. So I'm related to John Chard who commanded a supply-depot which was attacked by Zulus

He says he's my grandmother's uncle, and where he's born checks out to be where my grandmother was born.​

 

I'm told that my German ancestors were among the first to enter the Wisconsin area, if that counts...

Anyway, I can't really remember too much about my family history but I did have at least one famous ancestor on my father's side who was a valiant soldier that fought in a great war many centuries ago...

And he was quite famous for something he did from what I've...I wish I could remember what it was...I think it may have had something to do with him laying down his life...

 

Supposedly, according to my grandmother, if I stretch my mother's side of the family as fsar back as I can, somehow I'm related to Cortez. Yes, the same Cortez who conquered Central America and brought with him the horse and smallpox.

George Washington is my 24th cousin! Not to brag or anything... but I think its so cool!:)

Then my mother's second cousin(?) is a member of the Finnish Parliament.

I also know a girl who is a distant relative of Ewan McGreggor D8

 

I have never really looked into my family history that much, partially because I haven't had contact with my father's side since I was about 5, and partially because no-one on my mom's side has ever really done any research into. I don't think anyone is really that interested.

I would love to know more about my family past, but I wouldn't have a clue where to start.

Well, (i don't know whether this counts) my grandmother's best friend husband was a crown price of a state here. But he married her and gave up his throne aww :). But, unfortunately he died when i was young :(

 

I do, well my aunt thinks so anyways. She's doing our genology right now, and she says we could be related to Joan de Ark. And we're related to someone who was on the Mayflower. That's about it I think anyways.

 

One of my ancestors used to be the right hand man of the a man called the earl of desmond who owned castles everywhere in ireland including in our town where the tall castle sits alongside the river, where my ancestor lived.

But I have a friend who's ancestor is William Wallace.

 

My Uncle played in the Olympics in 1975

 

My cousin's cousin is WWE Superstar "The Rock."

Other than that, not really, but there's a lot of upcoming actors, musicians, rappers etc. in my family.

Btw, my aunt almost got into the olympics.

 

My aunt claims I have a relative who signed the Dec. of Independence. Doubt it, anyway.

There's also rumor that one of my great great great ect. grandfathers was BFF's with Hitler. :l

I'm not sure if I have a famous ancestor, but I'm related to some famous people. I have a cousin named Marcus Jones that's an NFL player, a guy in a famous jazz group from Indiana, and...I can't remember who else. :/

 

I know my great-grandfather on my mother's side was in WW1. And he is still alive too. 8D
I don't know if there's anyone on my dad's side of the family though since his real dad (who is full-blooded italian, that's all I know about him) left my grandmother when my dad was like, two years old. I think I might look into my family history when I get the chance,
