Do you guys listen to other music when you play certain games?

Like when I play Fallout: New Vegas, I'll turn the in game music off and crank up the Ennio Morricone for a true cowboy western feel. Also, when I play Fallout 3, I'll put on some 70s movie soundtracks, really gives the game a whole new feel. It's John Williams for Oblivion and so on and so forth.

Tell me what kinds of music you listen to when you replace the game's soundtrack with your own.

 

Always, Such as I play Maplestory, I turn off the background music and put on a Comedy,Radio station from Itunes, or play my Itunes playlist in Shuffle.

 

I usually listen to music while I play, usually a radio station that mixes all the newest songs and they are really good. Or I will use my iPhone

 

I listen to Android Porn when playing Halo: Reach. Yes its a song, its awesome

 

When I play GTA:IV I'll put on the Vice City soundtrack. So much better.

 

Yeah i do that i when i play gauntlet seven sorrows i turn it down and play lostprophets in the background.

 

Really? I like the seven sorrows music so I don't have to play other music too

Never get tired of listening to Black Betty while driving a warthog around in Halo 3.

 

Usually games or mmorpgs that require a lot of grinding or boring farming I'll just throw on the last.fm or something to make it more entertaining. Sometimes with first person shooters but not as often.

 

This was pretty much the exact same post I came into this thread to post, though with some alterations. Whenever I play through a game for the first time I pretty much always just stick to the game's soundtrack, however if there's a lot of grinding I usually just turn on some other music (especially if the game's music gets boring after a while). After a while of playing MMOs I usually just turn off the game music and then some of my music. Also, if the music sucks I'll turn it off.

 

When I'm grinding or farming, I usually mute the game's music and put my music player on shuffle. It helps make the thing less monotonous in my opinion. I've also found myself playing music from other games while playing nowadays xD

 

I do play music quite a bit whilst playing, it usually makes my memory of a game and music quite memorable. And most of the time it's albums and playthroughs of a game, so i'll get a new album and game at around the same time and if it's a grind to play or dialogue is minimal i'll stick my album on and enjoy them together.

I also listen to quite a lot of comedy as well.
The most perfect Album and game combo i've found is: Psychonauts/Demon Days/Gorillaz. It's like they were made for each other, both are as strange as each other.

 

Fatal Frame games... I can't stand the silence of the video game or the creaking of the floor boards or random screams while I'm wandering around looking for malevolent ghosts to take pictures of. Playing happy songs, like Disney, or hard rock, or anything that's playing on Pandora really help keeps my sanity. I start finding myself getting way into the video game, and before I know it, I'm jumping at any little sound that could be a "ghost" if I keep the sound on. *Shudders* It somehow gives me some courage to play through the stupid video game.

Not just for horror video games, but I also play music while playing online games like Flyff. The music can get so tiredsome, and the game starts to get boring. But if I have my player on shuffle, then the game seems more enjoyable when I listen to songs that I like while I'm fighting off monsters and doing long, hard quests. So yeah, I listen to music while playing video games and other games.

 

I need my hardcore post-grunge alternative when I'm tearing it up on MH or Halo, y'know?

 

Hell yeah. I need my pump up theme for that week of MvC3, Naruto, or any other big game.

This week's theme is... Over and Over by Three Days Grace

 

When I'm playing PKMN White - I usually just Listen to the Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald themes. It's a lot better IMO (Although, B & W have awesome music as well, but nothing beats Hoenn!)

And sometimes when I'm playing Phoenix Wright: Justice For All, I'll switch it up for the Ghost Trick soundtrack. It makes it sound more mysterious.

 

During all of the Halos, I drowned everything out with my own music. With MMOs, definitely. Not going to sit there and listen to some awful loop mp3 while grinding. Also had iTunes blasting during Assassin's Creed. The only game I didn't/don't drown out is Amnesia the Dark Descent. ​

 

I found that almost easy is an amazing song for racing games.
