And what do you do to help the situation?

During the summer major ecological problems occurred at several places of the world. People died, homes and villages were ruined but still there are some people who do nothing to make better the situation.

Floods in England and the U.S and many people missing. Wildfires in Spain and Greece with many dead, ruined areas both ecologically and for the people who live there. Typhoons in other places of the world. And who knows what's next.

It is a huge destruction don't you think? But what it should concern all of us is what do we do in our everyday life to stop this destruction before it's too late.

I don't know about you but i care about this world.

    But back to the topic.

I also care about this world...It's the only one we've got and we should ALL help preserve it. donate money to the victims might help. And of course we should all pray for better luck in our world, mother nature is unpredictable but prayer is still very very strong.

Good answer... We can't just wait till nature recovers. We have to do something ourself...

Of course I care. But we must deal with it. If that isn't harming us, another problem obviously will so we won't really get out of the "destruction" part lawl.

You do realise that there is next to nothing that we can do to help? I wouldn't trust charities with my money unless I saw exactly what it was paying for and that the people actually received it at the other end.

There will always be destruction even if you try & prevent, just as you said. These things happen, even if it has been getting worse over the years. There is nothin' we can do to prevent it from happening.

By the way, this is the wrong section. I'll move it like a good wee lassie. ^^

    Moved.

I care that the home of many creatures, not just humans, but all creatures and life on here are suffering because of what humans are doing to the world, through polution they've killed many species and made over a million species extinct. The reasons for floods and other natural disaters is because thats one of the only ways the world can fight back against what humans are doing to it, if humans really cared about the earth they would have stopped pollution and destruction all over the world, but they don't, so long as one man or woman destroys our home, the world will die a slow and painfull death, charities can nto help, only slow the process, like the saying goes 'All for one and one fall al and heaven bless this land.' We must all work for the benefit of the world if we are to benefit from the world, that si the only way for human life to continue.

It is impossible to complete pollution completely. You have to be realistic with these things. You can't expect every American/European to stop driving their cars and take public transport just because you tell them to. It would never work, and would make little of a difference. We need long term solutions, like clean and renewable energy sources, such as nuclear fusion and hydrogen cells.

I never said it was possible, I just said that it's the only way to stop the world dieing. The worlds going to die in the end thanks to humanity, not much else to say, you can't help because you need everyones help, we're all dead, too bad, once again thanks to humanity, we are all Fncked!

You can't blame humanity for everything, how do you know there isn't some natural cause? The world goes through warming and cooling phases.

Species go extinct all the time, it's part of evolution. The strong survive and the weak die off. But, I am not saying humanity didn't have a part in it, because we definitely did. But most of the damage was done years ago out of ignorance of the consequences.

Damage done today is done because of a lack of ethics. Also, saying that we are all fncked because of humanity, you wouldn't exist if humanity didn't exist so that's quite a contradiction >_>

    :/

I've never really thought about it honestly, but my school sure has, last year a few classes went to new orleans to help build homes for Katrina victms, i myself wasn't allowed to go. Too far, but my friend did and they brought back pictures, i'd say from what i saw and heard from them they did a great job.

It's pretty hard for the majority of us to do anything on a grand scale level to help out against the pollution and effects going on. However, we can do small things such as making sure we do recycling of our garbage, walking when able to and if we see a small mess, cleaning it up if able.

For bigger things, you really need to work with a lot of people and get attention. It isn't impossible, but the more people you have, the more things that can be influenced and done. Also, some things just may take a matter of time. Much of the pollution etc was caused by people who run corps etc and are 45+ years old. As we age, we will move into positions of power more and there we will have more of a voice and control of things. We can influence more. So even if we can't immediately run things, keeping it in our hearts so when we do get older is a positive thing, because then when we are there, the more that care, the more we will accomplish and those that put us in this mess in the first place will be in retirement homes.

Never give up, do small things, donate some time. I also have a problem donating money to people I don't know though I will help out and donate to fund raisers as I did with Hurricane Katrina relief. Some grocery stores and such do host some and take not so much off the top. The big donation companies are the ones I always worry about since they are often shown to be scams if you research or a big portion of money goes to the wrong people. If I ever had the kind of money to make a difference, I'd probably just fly my happy butt to the locations and hand it out on my own rather than dealing with middlemen.

Well, I have to say that not all of this (the hurricanes, droughts, floods, fires, etc.) is humanity's fault, but I do place alot of blame on us.

Alright, next, I hate those who don't care, I for one care alot...and I know this is going to sound horrible but I care less for humanity than the rest of the world. I know, if humans where not here, I wouldn't be here either. But I can't help but get mad at the stuff we do. I know we all make mistakes but even though it is plainly obvious that we are f***ing up our planet nobody is really doing anything. There are the individual people who try their best but without the cooperation of the entire human population there is no way we could fix our impact on this planet. Most people see it as "Oh, well I don't need to do anything because someone else will" or maybe "Well this won't happen in my lifetime, I don't give a f***" then there are those who just think helping out is to hard.

I know we can't just get rid of cars and trucks or other things that people depend on so much, but using better means to fuel the cars would be a start. I heard someone here say
Alright two things about this, one, I don't think messing around with nuclear fusion is at all a good idea, we should all know the consequences of if we get it wrong, I forget where but there was screw up at a place working with nuclear energy and guess what. Still pumping out as much deadly radiation as when it blew up, people tried fixing it by putting a huge concrete dome over it to block the radiation, but it only helped a little bit, the concrete is breaking down and in a few decades it will crumble and humanity will still have to do something about it.

Second I think hydrogen is alright, and it's not the only clean fuel. We can use wind power, I've heard of new ideas being put into action of having windmill fields on the ocean, and I think that is a splendid idea. Although we must really watch where we put these windmills, being careful not to destroy important habitats for marine life.

Another thing I would have to disagree with is giving to charity, I know it seems a good cause, but more than 75% of the time the money is never used as people say it is. If you want to help, do stuff on you own or get a group together to help. there are many small things you can to to help, and if you spread it throughout a group, hopefully they will pass it on to others that will in turn do small things to help.

    Some small things to help:
    • Recycle. Simple, just put what can be recycled separate from what can't. Easy as that.
    • Don't liter. Okay this one is heard everywhere but I rarely see people do this! Like just today I saw someone throw a empty pack on cigarettes of my front lawn!! :ranting:
    • Try composting. Really people, you just put this outside, cover it with leaves and leave it, it so simple my 6 year old cousin can do it! If she can basically anyone can.
    • Lastly, another R, reuse. This one is super simple, just reuse water bottles and such, don't get paper plates and plastic spoons, they are one use then throw away, this is bad. Get more than one use items because 1, you don't have go go buy more everyday and 2 it's much better for the environment.

But seriously doing little things can make a big impact. Hopefully we can fix some of the major problems we made, like the hole in the ozone layer and such.

O_o wow, did I really just type all that?

lol, darn, and just when I thought I would beat you to to posting you pop up outta nowhere and beat me to it.

These kinds of problems annoy me a little bit. Whenever people tell others the problems of the environment like global warming, they always make it seem like it's completely the people's fault (not pointing any fingers at anyone here; from what I've seen everyone who's posted so far are genuinely concerned). For example, yes, people have played a part in the problem by using far too much fossil fuels, and that hurt the planet, but what scientists or other people who talk about saving the planet are certain facts, like when a cow passes gas, it releases more methane in the air than a big rig. Again, I'm not trying to point any fingers at anybody. It's just that if we spend more time telling everyone 'it's your fault', we aren't going to get anything done.

Second, what most people don't seem to realize is that the earth is changing. It's been changing since before pollution such as today has been occurring, and it will continue to change. We can try and help repair some of the damage as best we can, but we still can't predict what will happen to earth. Science is pretty accurate, but it's not absolute. There are always going to be independent variables that can, if not will, disrupt a theory or process, no matter how accurate it is. We need, if nothing else, to continue to pray and try our best to help, but at the same time we can't point or dread of what might or will happen. What will happen will happen.
