Superstitions such as the Black cat having bad luck, Friday the 13th and etc. Well, do you think superstitions are credible?

I personally do not believe in superstitions. I won't say they are stupid, but that they are pointless. I think people came up with superstitions in the past to help keep themselves safe from harm or an sort of danger. After all, in the past, the unknown and inexplicable was something to be afraid of.

I really believe in supstitions, from the fact that some of them have happened ironically on the dates, forms, etc.
I'm also really cautious with that stuff.

No. I don't consider it stupid but basically pointless. I'm usually told to wear black on Friday the 13th because it'll supposedly keep me "safe" from bad luck. I'll probably do it by accident since I wear black a lot but never on purpose.

I've never really had a problem with any black cats, the number 666, or on Friday the 13th. It all just passes by any other event or day.

There's something about cutting your nail too...I don't recall completely.

I voted no, but that's not entirely true. I'm not superstitious at all except for Fridays the 13th. And I'm not even sure for what: good day or bad day. It's been both good days or totally bad day. Never a normal day.
Other than that, no, I don't believe in superstitions.

I'm supersticious to an extent. I mean, like I don't avoid stepping on cracks in the sidewalk but I fear Friday the 13th's and I hate it. I wish I wasn't as supersticious as I was.

Superstitions may have no basis, but they're so prevalent it's hard not to observe them. And some things... are just fun to go along with. You can throw salt at people. And it does seem that Friday the 13ths are rarely normal days, though it may only be because I'm actively looking for weirdness.
But I don't really believe in superstitions. I have a black cat and I think my luck's fine, I step on cracks all the time, I stand under ladders just to laugh.

Nah, I think they're all a bunch of bull. I haven't had any bad experiences involving black cats, breaking mirrors, Friday 13th, walking under ladders etc. I don't know anyone who has either.

Black Cats, right, they creep me out. But there's never any harm done. But there's a song called Black Cat by Mayday Parade. <<Good Band.

Friday the 13th has always been a wierd one. I never really experience any 'bad-luck' so to speak of, but wierd things do happen. Out-of-the-blue things happen, like my sister being nice, my mum not screaming for a day, **** like that. Never really 'bad-luck.'

However there is this thing that I think most Greeks believe in. It's called the Evil Eye in english, and your supposedly supposed to wear something with the Evil Eye on it so it protects you. What it protects you from is being cursed. So when someone is jealous of you or curses you or something along the lines of that The Eye will protect you. It happens when you suddenly become sick, like headaches, nausea or sudden weakness. My grandmother always tries to educate me on this stuff. I get it, well sort of anyway Cx

    So yeah...

No, not at all. I don't think they are stupid, just that none of them have actually seemed to affect me so far. My friend is really bad though. He won't let me walk over 3 drains in a row on the way to School.

I'm pretty supersticious. Y'know, knock over salt and all that... I don't believe in the black cat stuff, but I do believe in ghost stuff (like it gets cold when they're around). My friend thinks I'm crazy, but you never knowwwww!

I have different superstitions. Most involve sports. For some reason I believe it is my fault if I break tradition during the season if my team starts tanking.

Ex. 1: Every Avalanche hockey game I have to drink out of this one mug for breakfast. If I don't then I think that it is my fault that they lost. I couldn't find it for half the season last year and we saw how that turned out.

Ex. 2: I made a binding (and stupid) bet that I wouldn't shave until the Utes lost a game last season. 13 weeks later I was convinced I would curse them if I shaved between the BYU game and the Sugar Bowl.

I know I have absolutely no impact on the game as a fan and that it doesn't matter how superstitions I am or what lengths I will take to 'help' my team win (I used to squint whenever someone had the ball against the Jazz) because the individuals participating are what will determine the outcome.

    Will I stop, no.

I don't really, although I did have one hell of a really awful day on Friday the 13th in February, but then the Friday the 13th that happened in March was a really awesome day for me.

When things do happen that coincide with certain superstitions then I think it is really down to coincidence and in some ways the human mind.

If you are superstitious and accidently walk under a ladder then you will be looking for something bad to happen, and then anything remotely negative that does occur such as breaking a nail or dropping a glass you will think " ahh that must be that ladder"

Superstitions are a human creation, they only have as much power as you give them.

I have read before actually that the idea of a black cat being unlucky is a popular misconception, and that if a white cat crosses your path it is a sign of illness.

No... I just think it's stupid.

I had 4 black cats cross my path in an hour, then I won £100 on the lottery...

I never have and never will. Because if I walk over a crack on the pavement, how on earth does that affect the probability of something bad happening to me? It doesn't make sense. But then a lot people seem to enjoy believing in things that are physically impossible.
