Do you believe in hypnosis?

Some people believe in it. Others think it's a trick. I'll post my own opinion (and an explanation) on it if this gets enough responses...

(And yes, I know there are different types. I just want to know if you believe in it at all...)

Also, have you ever been hypnotized before?

Its real

Hypnosis will only work if the patient or victim believes its real.
Because if the mind doubt that hypnosis is real then the mind will not lose to hypnosis.

Mmhmm. And this isn't just an assumption, I know this from experience. This guy came to my school last year, and I volunteered for his act. From what people told me, I was acting like I was at te dentist's, I actually reacted to an imaginary frisbee hitting me in the face, and my hands actually went down when he said he was gving me a heavy weight or something.

My point is, it's pretty damn convincing.

Its a type of manipulation of the mind, but only if its done right, so I believe it.

 

I suppose it is real since I've seen people in a hypnotised state. How it works baffles me, though. o,o

I like to think that a hypnotist wouldn't be able to hypnotise me because I have power over my own mind.. but, I guess I'll just have to find out for myself someday. xP

 

I don't believe in it. I've also been "hypnotized" by a magician at my high school......... nothing happened. xD;

I think it depends on whether or not the hypnotist does it right, and whether or not the person being hypnotized even believes it will work in the first place. Since the human brain can make you believe anything, of course, as long as you completely believe so.

 

i believe in it, but it doesn't work on me. i think it's because i was expecting to be hypnotised and thought way too much about it. :O maybe if someone randomly came up and tried it i might be able to.

 

It's all to do with your mind, if done right it works if not it doesn't.

Just remembered, didn't Mythbusters prove some types actually work like the cops hypnotizing you to remember details better?

There is actually a professional hypnotist that comes to my school every year. I've been to two of his performances and they were rather impressive.

I'm pretty sure it's a mind over matter thing though, you cant be so called 'hypnotized' unless your mind really wants to be.

 

No, I don't believe in it at all. My mind is my own. It is the only thing that nothing can penetrate.


I suppose, like stated before, that if you believe it is real, than it could work, becuase you might subconsciously be acting the way you think a hypnotized person should act without even realizing it.

I believe it to a certain extent...... but some of the Hypnotists i've seen are fakes

 

I've never been hypnotized...but I think it is possible...only if a person is weak-minded though.​
