    Let's look at this logically...
What if a huge dog with red eyes and snaring it's blood stained sharp teeth was chasing you...
Do you show a frightened emotion and run...or do you simply stand there like an idiot?

I consider any doubts that includes a worry is a fear. Therefore, everyone on this planet has at least 1 fear. If not, please tell me who is a fearless person.

Now on the other hand, there are terrorists. It may seem they don't fear, but they do. They fear of losing. They fear of what will become of them. They fear of what happens if they don't do this. Every action has a reason. Some are unexplainable. Some are done by fear.

Some people wouldn't run. Some would fight it.

Of course, they would fear something else.

Oh, even sociopaths have their fears. Killing or abusing may be something they do without empathy, but that does not say they are fearless. They seclude themselves for whatever personal reasons, and that reason is always backed up by a fear of some sort [call it their own way of self defense mechanism].

I feel that people who deny it, probably have a bigger fear than most of us, but don't want to admit it, for whatever reason.

Think about it. Just because some people choose fight over flight does not necessarily mean that they are not afraid.

It's impossible to be without fear. Deep down inside, everyone is afraid of something. Whether it's something that others can see, such as a fear of heights of small spaces or fear of darkness or something inside of you. We're all afraid of something.

I personally believe that the emotion of fear is one that is buried deep in our instinct to survive.

There is something within us that recognises certain things as a potential danger, this is mostly with fears such as height, the dark, spiders, snakes, (whilst snakes and spiders are not as much of a threat to people in modern times, in early history and even in the last few centuries they would have been).

Then there are the fears which are entirely environment based, such as clowns (my own fear), these we gain through our experiences and the things we are confronted with/introduced to as we grow and develop.

I think it is entirely possible that some people believe that they do not fear anything, however, I personally think it is more that they have not yet discovered their fear.

fear is a natural instinct, blah blah blah, but more importantly, its what makes us human, and is probably one of the good reasons our species has survived for so long. Everyone has to have a fear.

True, but still, if they don't exhibit the signs of fear, how is that any different from not being afraid?

And I'm not saying these people are fearless, just that they're not scared of that particular animal.

Everyone has an insecurity or a fear of some kind. Whether it be rational or not (which I don't feel irrational fears are real; something caused it directly or indirectly), everyone I know has them. I know I do. Some people like to make people believe they don't have those problems; but, in reality, it's probably there. Hard to say, however, as to the degree of the fear.

Well, the biological responses are still present for example. The muscles in your arms and legs receive more oxygen than the muscles in the bowels for example, who have less need for immediate oxygen.
Notice that this "psyching up" is a natural reaction, a biological evidence of fear, but that it offers advantages both when you choose to run or when you decided to defend yourself.
If you don't analyze the attacking creature as dangerous, in other words if you feel no fear, these responses are not triggered. Of course this is taken from a purely biological point of view.

An animal, or any living creatures need not be involved in order to provoke fear--even if it was a demon dog with red eyes and blood stained, sharp teeth that was chasing you. Those who chose to fight over flight may not be intimidated by animals, but what's not to say that they do not fear a certain concept...say, the fear of the safety of his/her loved ones?

I never said they didn't. I just said they might not be afraid of that particular type of encounter. I do believe everyone has something they're afraid of.

If you fear it, chances are it is something you find to be scary.

Unless you mean it doesn't neccessarily have to be something everyone else finds scary, in which case I agree.

Fears can be a really personal thing.

Everyone has to have a fear for it is how humans can relate or experience one's distastes or help them go stronger when they over come it. Mostly a fear develops when one is a child and then other fears can occur depending the feelings one has for something or someone.

I believe that everyone has a fear. Some may not be as recognizable or noticable as others but all the same, we all have a fear of something. It could be something as simple as fearing the safety of someone that you really cherish or it could be something like a fear of the dark.
