Yes. Animals in the wild will do that. I don't see why it can't be wrong for us. Normally, however, if you make a loud noise, such as(when my friends poke me in the side I "yelp like a dog") crying out, or yelping. When I am threatened, or if someone attacks me I do that, and they normally back off.​
