Oh right, I mean if Guns were illegal it's not like ANYBODY would illegally have it. Face it. If guns were made illegal then the only people left with them are the people who would have misused them in the first place. making something illegal does nothing close to stopping it.

true, but we need SOME sort of restrictions. i mean, a person does NOT need 100 guns at ONCE. they're obviously going to sell it or something. true there is no magic solution that will make it all go away, but a restriction is better than nothing

it is NOT rare, it happens on a DAILY basis. but ppl shouldn't be so inclined to use guns to solve problems. and a LITTLE off topic but i'm NOT freaking out about it

    holy crap...
you and i are thinking the same way.
less guns, less innocent victims, less families without a mother/father/brother/sister.
we can't eliminate all violence but we can reduce it.

Karate? You're kidding, right? I've fought people who knew quite a lot about martial arts, and they ended up on the ground because I had a knife with me.
Contrary to what most movies show, "karate" isn't the end-all when it comes to self defense.
Secondly, the average person isn't going to have the time to train enough to be even decent at any given martial art.

Of course I didn't stab him, I said he ended up on the ground, not that I stabbed him.
And there is no "gun side," it's the side of common sense.

well...then what else could u have done to make them get on the ground then? and guns DO kill way too many ppl, there's no denying that. less guns= less ppl getting shot

Arm bar -> Tripping works pretty well.

And less guns would mean more clubbings, knifings, or other forms of murder, not to mention that the criminals could still probably get ahold of guns.
Also, if someone has murderous intent, whether that person has access to a gun or not, they're going to try to kill you, just because they don't have a gun doesn't mean that they won't try other methods of killing.

well...at LEAST less accidental death. kinda hard to "accidentily" kill urself wiht a club right? but guns make it WAY too easy to die. btw, wat do u think about the current gun laws?

If you want to ban guns because of accidental deaths, then ban cars as well.

Face it, no matter what you ban, or what you allow, humanity is always going to find new and inventive ways to kill eachother.

No. I was explaining why banning guns isn't going to drastically decrease the number of accidental deaths.

You guys are looking at this as in a we live in a 'perfect world,' as it's called in a scientific term, however we don't... There will always be shootings(BTW, they don't happen on a daily basis, that's a major exageration), no matter how you try to stop them, trying to prevent them will only make your exageration true. Guns are apart of life, your looking at this as an idealist, you think in ideals. You need to look at this more on a realist and capitalist point of view first and see the problems this would cause...

Well, why do people need guns? They were just invented to hurt people.

Many people are missing my point. I'm not saying the world sucks because of guns, I'm saying it sucks because of people. Okay it would be hard to ban guns just like with prohibition. But eventually people will be forced to find a better way. The world can't go on like this, go play Halo2 or something.
And hunting is antiquated, over and done with, played out, old; it doesn't serve a purpose except to shoot people in the face or in the back or whatever. I can't name specific cases so it may sound stupid, but people do often get killed in hunting accidents cause bullets can go pretty far.

you do realise that that is actually outdated? that applied when the USA didnt have an army and ordinary people would just be called up and expected to bring their own gun?
i agree that making guns illegal wouldnt really help that much, the criminals who want guns would still get them, but still, compare America to any other country that has strict gun controls and there will be a marked difference in fatal shootings. just look north of the border. canada has a higher gun to person ratio than america and yet they have what 5-10 fatal shootings a year compared to hundreds if not thousands (possible exaggeration) in america. its all in the mindset, only seems to be a problem in america in my opinion.

No, it changes absolutely nothing. Let's say that document to pass one gun per month law was passed. a shooter buys a gun at the beginning of the month and hen goes on a rampage and takes his own life. It only takes one gun to perform a shooting. Once again, guns are not the problem, people are. I say we fix the people and get them help before they get the urge to kil leveryone. Hell, people knew that guy from VT was going to kill eventually due to the fact his roomate, teachers, and tutors were all creeped out by him...

I read the first line and I got so angry I could not bring myself to read the rest. Saying that any amendment is outdated is saying that all of them are outdated. You now lose your freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of exrpession, etc. Congratulations, you basically now live in Iraq. ;)
