Of course animals have feelings. They cry when they're sad, tremble when they're afraid, and so on. And dogs wag their tails when they're happy. I believe all animals have feelings, not just pets.

Yes all animals have feelings. If they didn't, we all be bitten by dongs, scratched by cats, and others likewise.

Not true. The fact that those animals don't randomly attack is because they're domesticated. Try going near a bear's territory, or worse near its cubs. See what happens.

Does a jellyfish have feelings? What about an ant? They don't. Sure, more advanced animals have feelings (like dogs and cats as you said earlier, but for the wrong reason), but not all do.

Yes, some animals do have feelings, but they're hard to see than human feelings.

All creatures of the Earth have feelings. It may not seem like it, but eventually they get the picture. People will mistreat dogs and such, and the animal will feels guilt; though they did nothing wrong. After being yelled at or hit (or some kind of punishment), you and I would figure out that we did something wrong (even if we didn't), so we would try not to do whatever it is that got us punished so we don't get punished. Animals are the same way. They'll figure out they did something wrong, so they'll try to fix what they did so it pleases the owner/whomever is taking care of them or whomever is punishing them.

Simply put: Yes, animals indeed have feelings and emotions.

By all creatures I'll assume you mean animals, not any other kingdom because that would just be ridiculous. xD

Anyway, you use the dog as an example throughout your post, and while the dog does have feelings, there are certainly animals that don't (like jellyfish and ants as I said earlier). The animals that are lower on the evolutionary line, like the insects, don't have feelings as far as what I've read in school.

Not some animals, basically most animals, despite that there are amphibians and reptiles, which it is harder to tell if they have feelings or not.

I think what's getting blurred here is the line between instinct and feelings.

Animals have instincts. It's how they know how to survive.

Domesticated animals became domesticated because they trusted humans and felt safe enough to be domesticated.
Animals do have feelings; why do you think an abused dog will bite it's abuser? The anger and pain it feels from being abused will be put in physical form - in this case, biting.
And if anyone has ever watched a dog dream, they do whimper in their sleep, similar to how humans talk in theirs.

    I couldn't resist.

Thread title also uses the wrong "to."

Of course they feel! They make decisions you know...I would definitely say it depends on what species etc. I suppose the definition of feeling is also a bit different to different people.
Animals also have instinctual behavior, and react to environmental stimuli.
    Interesting question to ponder really...

I do believe that all animals have feelings, they are after all living things just like humans.

    Do animals have feelings? Yes.

That's all that needs to be said.

Not all. Fish don't seem to feel, as well as several birds from what I've read in biology books.

Well just because they're alive doesn't mean that they feel. It's not that simple.

Yup, agreed 100%. A lot of people here are confusing feelings with instincts.

dogs are the most intellagent of pets. They feel pain. They should feel sadness too, shoudn't they. Alligators are psycolagically angry because of an enlarged medulla ablengata, the part of the brain theat shows rage, jelousy, aggression, etc. I read biology books too!

I think they do have feelings. Dogs and cats can clearly show signs of anger and depression.

Animals out in the wild have instinct. Animals in captivity replace instinct and hunting with personalities and 'feelings'. So, yes, animals in captivity do.

I think animals have feelings to an extent. They don't have super complex feelings like we do, and that's what some people are led to believe. I'm sure they feel something other than external pain when their master, who they love with all their heart, kicks them, but they don't know the significance of that. They just think they did something bad. It's not like their upset because they know you're unnecissarily beating them, because they don't know that.

So, in conclusion, animals do have certain feelings and instincts, but we have to keep in mind that their brains are not as complex as ours, and they don't think of things the same ways we do.

Of course animals have feelings and why wouldn't they? You can tell by their body signals and the noises they make. Cats for example pur because they are content or in distress. The ears back cleary mean I'm annoyed and their chirping *no not like birds* means they are on the prowl and want the prey. Also when they kneed, they are simply showing affection and are insecure like when they were kittens. Being an animal lover, all animals deserved to be treated with kindness and respect.

I just got a kitten and I can tell by her body language if she wants to play, sleep or just be with me. She's hugely expressive.

I think all animals have feelings, elephants mourn the passing of one of their own, dolphins know the concept of play more than kids do, and most animals know aggression.

    yes animals do have feelings
    i never knew that until i was 9 =s
i thought animals had no feelings [cuz they have no brains]
But when my dad got for me a puppy on my 9th birthday .. i realized that they do have feelings
If you treat them nicely they will LOVE you
If you treat them badly they will either hate you or feel sad ...

its as simple as that ^^
