Yeah eventhough that's one of reason people aren't liking the game is the new dante, I follow my own rule when I come to new games that others dislike. Wait until I played it before I start to like it. The new Dante is cool and all (not as cool as the old one) But cool enough for me to like the game.

I like the new Dante's look but i hope he has the same personality as in the previous games.
It just wouldn't be Dante without the funny/lame jokes and cocky attitude.

I suggest you try out DMC3. It might change your opinion on the game, as it did mine.

I like the concept of the look of Dante. It's like what the Western take of a young Dante would be like, which is more gritty and realistic compared to the Eastern concept of a young hero which is usually a beautiful and clean cut guy. Ninja Theory did great with Enslaved, they could do the same with this.

I heard the original Devil May Cry team liked the design of the Dante Ninja Theory cam up with, so that's a positive.

Biggest drawback for me is that he's smoking.

I'm surprised they gave him a cigarette since I read somwhere that the original makers thought it was cool that a guy like Dante didn't smoke, but here he looks like a punky neo-nazi, so I guess it's a given.

I'm prepared to see a more angry/sarcastic Dante than the usual laidback/sarcastic one, but I'm still looking forward to the game. It's DMC, how bad can it be?

And I've seen clips where his hair goes white during Devil Trigger, so God Bless

I believe there is already a topic about this somewhere, i remember posting in it but anyway..

    +1

I don't like him. Ever since i saw that pic of him wearing the HP glasses i can't take this thing seriously. So did he suffered a psychological trauma and his hair turned white later? I don't understand where it fits in the timeline, DMC3 already showed a young Dante (who looked ten times better than this thing) so is he even younger here? Are we talking about a different universe/version? I don't know... Personally DMC3 +4 Dante are my favourite, that skinny drug addict boy looks horrible.

I am very interested though to see how the battle system works, that must be really sweet, i just hope that he was more similar the character we know... And they better polish the graphic engine >.>

"Processor: AMD Athlon™ X2 2.8 Ghz or better"

That's actually going to leave quite a few people out in the cold, and that's just Minimum Requirements.

But other than that, it would probably be better for people who can handle playing it, but don't have a console to play it on.

Well that's a pity, leaving the mac users out of this. Would have been quite nice to see DMC reach out as a game on the apple machine.

Having played the demo for this new version of DMC:

+gameplay is actually very cool, like switching between the two modes, Angel & Devil
    +graphics are great
    +music is alright
-New Dante is not funny. Like, at all. And he keeps spewing his name to everyone he meets, as if Capcom is flipping off the fans of the real Dante
-Having only two combat modes gets rid of having 4 styles like in the old game
-Dialogue feels...boring. The exposition at the start of the demo felt like people talking in a break room about graphs, not half-demons talking about the world being in danger
-Above point may come from just bad voice acting. The old games didn't have the best, but they weren't this bad
-Devil Trigger...lame. Give him white hair normally. Devil Trigger is supposed to make him look like a badass demon
-30 FPS instead of 60 doesn't feel right for DMC combat, personally

I played the demo a bunch of times though so I might as well dump my thoughts and personal take on it.

The soft lock on is garbage, period. This is what sets this game apart from the DMC series immediately, you hit wherever you move the analog and using the guns is pointless when it comes to accuracy. I was playing on Son of Sparda trying to pull one of the cherub's sheilds but the game kept attempting the pull another enemy. Annoying. The roll is also OP as hell. When the red enemy did his whole "make the ground fire" move, I mashed roll repeatedly in the AoE and didn't take any damage. The game is also piss easy. Hitboxes and parry windows are huge and you get a ridiculous amount of i-frames duing dodges. In regular DMC I don't touch Son of Sparda because I get my ass handed to me posthaste, this was like Demon Hunter on DMC4.

I won't lie, I had some fun playing the demo though. It's slower than DMC and you might as well put the combat in a whole different bag than DMC save for how it looks, but it's a fun western action game. The music sounds better than I thought it would be and is good enough for just being in the background. And it helps that the game is ****ing sexy. I'll give NT their props, if they got anything right it's these beautiful graphics and cool environments. And I won't lie, the whole "dynamic world" BS they sacrificed 60 fps for is pretty cool. I wouldn't pay 60+ bucks for it, but I'd rent it and then buy it a year later. I lowkey want that Vergil DLC though.

This guy brought up some really good points about the game too: Mechanics problems with DmC demo | IGN Boards
