How can their not be a thread for this movie!? D:

Just got in from seeing the midnight showing and I was blown away by this. Once i'm slightly more awake and coherant, i'll elaborate on what it was the intrigued me the most.

In the mean time, discuss won't you?

Ok, now that I am awake, my take:

I'll admit, that this is the first movie i've watched in a long time that there were sections that truely made me squirm. This is also the first movie that I can honestly say had me on the edge of my seat and I never once checked my watch till the end. It's R for a reason with the amount of action and violence plus it's funny to hear people saying fook instead of...welll you know.

The fact that this movie blends elements of political and morality with in the main character (i can't pronounce his first name D:) is so damn convincing that you are instantly able to connect with him during the opening documentarianistic manner of story telling. The director did a fantastic job interweving themes of immigration, persecution, class, and power into an alien story that we've never really seen before. The simple fact that aliens basically pulled a Christopher Columbus instead of War of the Worlds or Independence Day and yet, we made the first move is a twist we've not really seen. I'm not going to lie, if this director teamed up with Peter Jackson on HALO....wow.

This sounds like an orgasm waiting to happen.

I've seen a few trailers of this movie. At first I wasn't impressed. And even when I saw a really good trailer during the Terminator movie...it wasn't the best thing ever(although I'd love to see it). But the plot is good. With that review...I can't wait to drag my family to see it.

Aliens come to Earth(peacefully). Humans basically keep them in this place called District 9(kinda like a ghetto). Nobody likes them and the aliens want to leave because they aren't welcome but the government wants to keep them there to use alien technology for themselves. Something along those lines.

In all honesty, the trailers for this movie was very poorly done. That of course, is my opinion. I didn't quite understand the actualy point of it...

But I'll take your word for it, since I'm apparently I'm supposed to see it tonight. D:

I'm glad to hear that! The trailers really were disappointing, but the plot that I could discern from them got me intrigued. It got a stunning review in the newspaper too, so I'm probably going to go see it in the next few days. It's been a while since I've seen an R-rated that wasn't just mindless trash.

That's a rather interesting outline. I might go watch it, when I have the time.

Yeah the trailers didn't seem all that great, I didn't quite get it. You described it better than the trailers did imo. I might go see it now, I actually think a friend of mine wanted to go see it tomorrow or something so I'll tag along. :3

Just came back from watching that movie. My god was it epic.

The plot for one was quite interesting enough, itself being an allusion to apartheid in South Africa. The action scenes were quite gripping and intense; one can feel adrenaline pumping through their bodies when they watch the movie. The characters themselves were quite likable (with the exception of a few certain humans of course). For those who haven't watched this yet I highly recommend it.

Right then, don't mind my horrible descriptions.

    Discuss.

I freaking want to see this. So many people say it's amazing, and I've anticipated it since first seeing the first trailer :<

    Humans really disgust me. :<
This movie covered so many concepts that I generally dislike about human nature...and I like the fact that they addressed it. The plot was amazing! GOSH...just spectacular! Special effects, makeup and the character developments were also flippin' AMAZING.

PEOPLE HAVE GOT TO WATCH THIS MOVIE!a
