Square-Enix Dissidia 012: Duodecim Final Fantasy

I hope they come out with full body images of Yuna in Dissidia soon.

Also I agree about Lightning. It seems like WoL and her are the main heroes

 

I just noticed that. It's kinda weird actually.

 

I get the feeling there's going to be like 4 heroes plots going at once. It seems Vaan has replaced that guy from VI who's name escapes me as he's with Terra and vice versa with Terra replacing that girl Penelo or something.
I get the feeling Squall and Laguna are going to adventure with people (possibly Bartz or someone) and Warrior of Light and Lightning will be chillin' while everyone else gets variants of their original game plots to push them along.
Personally, I'm hoping Onion Knight talks less, his voice irritates me to no end.

 

I'm really pissed that they made OK go in the childish "DERRR I'M AWESOME" direction. That's probably the exact opposite of OK/Luneth in III.
Like seriously...III was really good, there was no need to make him obnoxious. Hell, none of the heroes from III are childish really. >>

Being the Cloud and Tifa fan that I am, I'm really hoping they do something to solidify the relationship. There's been hints and **** dropped all over the place, and it was pretty obvious by the end of VII and through Advent Children, but...confirmation is what will finally cause the OTP war to end. Hopefully.

 

They do seem to have made large character errors in a lot of places. FFI guys where basically a rehash, II was more David Bowie vs the black power ranger's voice who's personality seems to have completely changed (they should of gone with Minwu :lolface:), III was obnoxious as you said and I've never seen Cloud of Darkness so I can't comment, IV is pretty close to the originals, V I have no idea, VI again no idea, VII seems to be closer to AC than the originals, VIII not sure since I've only just started VIII but it seems close enough (except for how Squall's Gunblade can fire, maybe a bit of a reference to KH's Leon), IX pretty close except they made Zidane more kiddish IMO kinda like they've got Zidane from the start of Disc 1 and Kuja isn't camp or silver tongued enough (also I think they voices aren't exact), X no idea but I don't really like anyone from X except for like 3 characters who aren't in Dissidia, XI lol, XII this'll probably be close enough a.k.a. Vaan doesn't do anything, XIII spotlight stealing squad.

All IMO of course. I suppose before X it was how people read the dialogue that alters views of characters.

 

To be fair, it doesn't exactly say what time period in VII Dissidia took Cloud from; from the in-game hints dropped it's suggested that it's post-Aerith's death because it has the element of guilt in it, which, in AC, is implied Cloud has had since shortly after the Fall of Meteor up to the beginning of AC. Tifa's appearance may give a better hint as to where the timeline is, provided that there is a certain timeline and she recovers her memory.

Or they've done the dumb thing and decided to compile all of the emotions and plot points of each character from every game and smush them into a single point just so they can get away with the costumes.

Well the OK from Dissidia wasn't based off Luneth from the DS remake of FFIII. The OK that appears in Dissidia is basically a composite character who takes his appearance from one of the unnamed orphans from the original game, his weapons from the unnamed warrior in the FFIII artwork, and his personality sorta resembles Arc's personality in the DS remake(a coward who puts up a brave front). I personally thought that OK's character in Dissidia was ok and it's kinda funny how people complain about his childish personality seeing as how he is a child.

I thought that Squareenix already confirmed that. Even then it's basically been confirmed by canon that they're the official couple? It's so obvious!

 

The story of the first dissidia is a spin off tying all of the FF games to the FF1 scenario. The story of Duodecim seems to be 100% spin off though. In the first Dissidia Cloud wears his FF7 outfits in the CGs, but I don' t really care when exactly he' s supposed to be from, the whole Dissidia plot is just a pretext for a big cross-over battle. Whatever story they come up with is fine IMO, I' m buying a fighting game.

The character design were all based on Yoshitaka Amano' s drawings. The only thing Amano drawn for FFXII was the logo, which is why Gabranth was the only FFXII character. Luneth was basically made from scratch for the DS rehash, in the NES game there was no hero, just four Onion Knights devoid of any personality. The fifth FF had the same Job system as the third, and Bartz was the basic hero stereotype, he didn' t really have a personality. In Dissidia he is described as a Mimic Fighter (Mime is the ultimate FFV job) and we can see three little stars floating over his head (which is a sign that you' ve mastered a job in FF5). His limit break showing him using both Cloud and Squall weapons was a good way to show that he mastered every job there is.

 

Okay how about what times Cosmos called forth the Warriors from their respective worlds, I know it's not really related to dissidia but hey, it's something to think about.

WoL, well, in FFI, they fought Garland throughout history and when they won, history was reset before Garland ever came to be, thus, no-one in the world really knows who saved them.

Firion - I have no idea since i never played FFII.

OK/Luneth - This is probably after the CoD fight.

Cecil - Cecil knows Golbez is his brother so this probably takes place after FFIV but before FFIV: AY's I guess.

Bartz - He always travels with Boco as he always searches for adventure so it's highly likey it's the aftermath of Exdeath battle.

Terra - Hard to place but if I had to guess, it's Mobliz in the WoR (World of Ruin) half of the game or when Locke's party travels to the Gesthal Empire's base.

Cloud - This could be during the Lifestream taking Cloud and Tifa in Mideel or when Cloud fell in the Northen Crater after giving Sephiroth the Meteor Materia.

Squall - Either after Ultimecia's Time Compression or in the ending.

Zidane - Could be when Zidane goes to save Kuja at the Iifa Tree in Disc 4.

Tidus - The farplane along with Jecht.

Shanotto - No idea.

Vaan - Tough one to call on since Vaan only broke out in a rage at Basch's prison.

Lighting - ...I got nothing, Lighting's NEVER alone in the game, she either has Fang/Sazh or Hope with her before the whole group comes together.

Then again, these could be Alternate versions of the FF characters in a seperate universe, but most FF fans prefer it were the original series.

I do hope OK at least gets some decent lines, he sounded so...annoying and girlish

Zidane's video is amazing. Despite it being an 8 second video it confirmed the Pandemonium Castles theme which I think is the best dungeon theme out of all the Final Fantasys.

Anyone else getting a BIT worried that while the release dates for both the Japanese AND the European versions have been released, there's been no word about the American version? I' starting to worry that it'll be BBS all over again where they tell us late, put it odd, and then we don't get the game till AFTER summer... =s

 

The European date is, most of times, close to the US date, usually after in fact.
No need to worry about it.

 

I didn't even know that SE was making a new Dissidia till a few days ago, and so soon afther the first one and they already confirmed released for NA and Europe too. And whats up with getting BBFFM to get Cloud KH1 outfit? That won't do anybody any good for fans overseas bacuse BBFFM wont come out unless they make it work for BBF that came out in NA and Pal. I don't feel like getting T3rdB just to get Linghtnining cool costume so I'll just skip that. I can't wait for it to come out.

PS. You for got to put Yuna she was shown in the trailer walking on the water just like in FF10.

 

It's definitely around the same time; when I reserved my copy at GameStop a few months back the release date was 4/1/11. Given that there had been no release dates for any area announced yet, it was probably a rough (and somewhat accurate) prediction. I'm gonna stop by a GS tomorrow and see if they've updated anything. Square's been getting better at correct release dates, lol.

UMD discs are region-free. I might end up importing FM for it, lol. Same thing with the EU version of Duodecim, since apparently they get a third costume for Tifa.
And Yuna was mentioned. ._.
