Square-Enix Dissidia 012: Duodecim Final Fantasy

Here is a little summary of the trailer from Jump Festa

Spoiler

First we see Cosmos looking downward. Then warriors of Cosmos gather, Lightning speaks about the crystals: "That power given to us by Cosmos will turn into crystals, Then we should be able to return to our worlds." Light gathers in her hand.
Kain & Golbez talk. Kain: "If Chaos wins, this world will be destroyed." Gobez: "It won't. Everything will repeat itself countless times."
Laguna & Squall. Laguna: "You're taciturn as ever." Squall: "We're on a battlefield. There's no time for idle talk."
WoL & Butz. Butz: "What if we all came up with a name to call you by?"
Frionil & Lightning. Light: "I sense something from this rose of yours." Frio: "You too?"
Sephiroth & Tifa. Sephiroth: "I've been looking for you." Tifa: "Who are you?" Sephiroth: "Your enemy. You needn't know more." Tifa: "A warrior of Chaos then, huh?" Sephiroth advances at her with Masamune, but Cloud appears behind him yelling "Stop!".
Tina to Vaan: "Defeat me... I don't want to use the power of destruction anymore."
Onion & Vaan sitting on board the Phantom Train. Vaan: "Has something happened lately?". Onion hangs his head.
Then a beautiful pre-rendered fast-paced battle between Tifa and Sephirot, other warriors of Cosmos and Chaos. Finally Yuna is shown walking barefoot on water (though only her feet and kimono can be seen).

So basically Yuna and the phantom train from FFVI are confirmed in this trailer. Oddly enough I just got off the phantom train in my replaying of FFVI

Since I'm writing this from memory there's still a lot that's uncertain. Stuff you can see on the Square Homepage has been omitted.
The movie starts with Lightning talking.
The Cosmos warriors gather in front of Cosmos. Cosmos puts her hands in front of her and light flows towards each of the warriors.　
Lightning: "This means we can finally change the power we've received from Cosmos into Crystals. If we do that then we should be able to return to our original worlds."
The Planet's Core.
Sephiroth: "I have been looking for you."
Tifa: "Who are you?"
Sephiroth:　"That doesn't matter. I am your enemy."
Tifa: "One of Chaos' pawns."
In the battle, Tifa uses Meteor Crash. In her Ex Burst, Tifa also says "I'm breaking my Limits!" [[just like Cloud]]　
Sephiroth aims Masamune at Tifa's throat, when Cloud appears crying out "Stop!"　
Vaan and Terra are walking together. (There were a lot of scenes with Vaan and Terra together)　
Vaan: "Before then we'll return to our original worlds. Please trust in me until that happens."　
Vaan's voice is like [[his former voice actor]] Takeda's but something feels out of place.
A new area. Squall and Laguna are in a place with a castle and a lot of green spaces. 　
Laguna: "You're still as closemouthed as usual..."
Squall: "This is a battlefield!"
Laguna: (making a joke) "Oh, scary! Even if our fate is to be separated sooner or later." (I only have a vague memory of this bit)
Laguna and Squall are polar opposites, but they actually seem to get along quite well. I wonder if that ha to do with them being father and son?　
Laguna has this image of being a 'mood setter' for the group. It seems that his voice actor is the same person who played Balthier.
Laguna's voice is completely different from Balthier's, so it didn't feel out of place and I thought it was quite good. (Still, that's only my personal opinion)　
Zidane and Onion Knight.
Zidane: "Even if we defeat Chaos, that doesn't mean we're going to be sent home to our own worlds when the fighting's over."
A crystal appears in Zidane's hands.　
On a tower of rubble, Terra calls out to Vaan: "Defeat me! I don't need power that can only be used for destruction!"
Cloud of Darkness: "Imitations are cursed puppets". For some reason Laguna can be seen behind her.　
A scene where Kain and Golbez continue their conversation.　
Kain: "If Chaos wins, the world will be plunged into disorder. Is that what you guys really want?"
Golbez: "The world won't disappear."
Cecil: "Kain! Are you all right?"　
Kain turns his back to Golbez. As he's leaving, Golbez says "you should confirm the truth with your own eyes."　
That annoying guy Kefka is tagging along with Kuja. Kefka: "Show us your power!"
Vaan and Zidane are sitting opposite one another inside the Phantom Train.
Vaan: "No-one knows what'll happen if we defeat Chaos."
There's a scene where Lightning feels something from Firion's Wild Rose as she stares at it.
A new map (It's like the World of Darkness from FF3, in which something that looks like a big crystal is floating)　
An earnest-looking Bartz says to WoL: "You know, we could give　you a great name!"
A battle screen appears.
I remember seeing Vaan's "Ex Revenge" stealing from the opponent's Ex Gauge?
During a fight Onion Knight has something like "Power and Physical Strength UP". One of Laguna's HP attacks was kind of like Squall's Blasting Zone.　　
During his Ex Burst he rode a mini Ragnarok.　
Chaos sits in the 'Edge of Madness' map. Garland and the Emperor are both there. Emperor: "How about using [[possessing?]] this man's body?"
Beside him is Jecht's unconscious form.
A movie showing Tifa vs Sephiroth. Tifa's kick connects with the hand Sephiroth holds Masamune with 　　
Vaan leads Terra by the hand　as they run (or escape?). They are attacked from behind by Judge Gabranth.
Someplace high up, Laguna looks to be using Desperado against the magic-user Ultimecia.　
Taking out a rope and hanging onto it, he lays into her with his machine gun.
There was a scene (1~2 seconds) of bare feet and a skirt that was apparently Yuna performing a Sending.

Looks like it will show how Jecht joined Chaos' side

How the **** are they fitting the original game + Duodecim on one UMD?

Perhaps they got some space over in Dissidia? Just a guess ^^'

 

They aren't fitting the original game and Duodecim into one UMD. They just remade the original's story to fit with Duodecim's new story mode which has more features like a 3D map system. It's said right here:

Also if they're gonna be putting new characters in from games that come from the SNES era and later, I want Gilgamesh and Celes to be chosen.

 

Ah, I misread that then. But still, that's a huge amount of space to be used.

Is the rumor of Yuna as part of Dissidia 012 confirmed? That's the only way the fans will know if it's true or not.

 

From what I've seen, it hasn't been confirmed yet. I wonder how Yuna would play in battle though. Could she change between being a summoner or a gunner? Would be pretty cool imo.

 

They have to release a video of Yuna in action to confirm it, I think. It would be so cool to have her a part of the Dissidia gang. From what TwilightBlader said in the summary of the Jump Festa trailer, her summoner attire is one of her costumes.

 

My guess would be that one class is normal and the other is EX Mode.

It would appear we're getting some hints to a release date in NA; I'm guessing late Q1 or early Q2 of 2011. EU release date has, I believe, been confirmed for March 25th, 2011.

 

I think Yuna would be great!! I enjoyed FFX. Hopefully the games release dates aren't too far apart overseas.

 

Well, we'll see what the forthcoming news is in two months, plus it's good that it's early as well, this just shows the people who dub Dissidia want it ready after the first sold out so well.

Yuna could be either Summoner or Dress Spheres I'd imagine, we'd have to wait and see what Nomura and the SE group are planning, Laguna was already a big surprise but then again, he does relate to Ultimecia since Ellone would be used by her and he did seal Adel away for a period of time (Unknown if Squall was born while he travelled to Esthar and became Esthar's Mayor.)

March 25 2011 in Europe. There still isn' t any date set for the US, but you' ll probably get it the same day, or even before : A SquareEnix game hitting Europe before the US ? Heresy !!!

 

Just noticed this now, but can anyone tell who Vaan is fighting against in the trailer? At about 2:10? Looks like Gabranth but I can't tell for sure.
There's actually a few characters whose identity I can't figure out but they might just be alt costumes. Agh.

Either way, I love how the game is looking so far, and given that both the JP and EU release dates are in March I'd assume the NA date is too.

Vaan is fighting against Gabranth in his "Noah" costume.
Cecil is fighting against Golbez without his armor.
I assume the last strange one is a Kain skin since he' s fighting Golbez.
Lightning is always fighting good guys, is she fighting on Chaos side cause FFXIII had lousy antagonists ? ^^

 

Yes, Yuna has been confirmed! I'd like to keep track of her role in the game, where's the site I can find such info?

Lighting is fighting on Cosmos' side because she's a good guy. She doesn't understand why she's fighting though, as a allusion to her being a l'Cie.

 

There's tons of gaming sites where you can find info, so your best bet would likely be Google.

And is anyone else kind of not liking the amount of facetime Lightning is getting, like she's the "main character" or something? :/
