Square-Enix Dissidia 012: Duodecim Final Fantasy

I always use to think that Genesis just wanted to be the new hero of the world during CC, but I suppose being on Chaos's side would be better.

 

He did, and that point was proven further with the special ending of Dirge of Cerberus, so while he's the antagonist in Crisis Core he's not entirely "evil", at least not in the way Chaos's side currently is. That reasoning alone kind of makes me want to say I wouldn't want him in Dissidia, because so far SE's done a good job of keeping the line between Cosmos and Chaos definite.
I still think they should add more characters from older games, pretty much anywhere from I-VI and VIII-IX.

 

Yeah, like Rydia for IV, Leon for III or some FFIII characters. Locke, Rinoa (sorry, her name is hard to spell) and Vivi would be good; I would have liked to see Noctis in the secret ending if there's gonna be one. My mind is crossing over with FFVXIII for some reason. o_0

 

I/II - Never played these games so I'm afraid no input here

III - Well, I guess Refia is a nice change but any Warrior is welcome.

IV - Zeromus, Cecil, Kain and Golbez were used by this man's plot so it's only natural brothers team up.

VI - If Terra really is on the side of Chaos, Cosmos could pick from Locke or Celes.

VII's had it's fill, come on we have Cloud, Sephiroth and Tifa and all three relate to each other story-wise

VIII I think should have Rinoa, two reasons for this, Squall talked to Onion Knight about a promise he made to someone after the war was over, this could hint Rinoa fought in D012 and Rinoa is a key piece against the sorcresses in FFVIII

IX - Garland could be a good opponent since Kuja and Zidane didn't exactly see him as a father.

X - Tidus and Jecht are fine as it is.

XI - Shanotto is Cosmos's Warrior, who'd be XI's Chaos Warrior is anyone's guess.

XII - This is pretty obivous since Vaan's in the game now so his opposing villian is already decided.

XIII - Lighting of course, Chaos's Warrior would be Barth if I had to fathom a guess, how that singing boss will fight, I don't know, he'd probably take up the entire screen Lol

XIIIVersus: I suppose Nomura will probably refrain from adding this in since he didn't want Lighting in Dissidia to bw restricted until FFXIII released, so it's probably the same here.

 

I could actually see Cid Raines for FFXIII as being forced to fight for Chaos.
However, that seems weird since Chaos can't really force him to in the same way Barthandelus could.

 

1 - Make it either Ignus or Refia. No Arc. He sucks.
2 - Yeah, I suppose you're right.

 

I'd like to see Rinoa added in just so Squall can show some emotion. It'd be nice to see her use her wings in some way too. And while im on the subject, it wouldn't exactly be a crime to add in Yuna, Rikku, and Paine. After all, Cosmos's side could always use more (decent) female fighters.

 

So far we only have new Cosmos characters and since they all appear in the story so far it really makes it hard to believe that

Im guessing probably one or two more cosmos characters and the rest are chaos characters

I think if FF3 had a representative it would be Xande. I really don't see Luneth, Arc, Refia, and Ingus in this game.

FF2 deserves Leon since he has a better connection with both Firion and the emperor. Also it gives us the chance to play as a full dark knight

For FF6 it either comes down to Locke and Celes since they were pretty important characters. Im guessing it will be Locke though because Celes will play a lot similar to Terra

For FF9 I can see Vivi as a representative because of how loved he is

Gilgamesh is the best choice. A character that appears in multiple final fantasys now appearing in a crossover final fantasy

 

Xande should have been in Dissidia instead of Cloud of Darkness, he was more of the villian, and COD was hardly in FFIII. And I will always hope that Ignus and Refia to be in Dissidia 012, I like them. Same with Rydia and Yuna. And Rosa. It'll give the current characters backstory.

 

Cloud of Darkness was the true main villain. She was responsible for controlling Xande

 

Good point, but I never liked COD. Her boss battle was hard. VERY hard. Put me off...it, I guess.

 

Boss battles aren't meant to be easy anyway. And in Final Fantasy, if something is hard it's usually cause you haven't prepared against everything for them. FFIX was notorious for that with half the enemies and their Venom spells. Chaos was like that to a degree but only got hard cause you had to fight him over and over. IMO.

 

Boss battles are mostly easy for me because I overtrain, but COD's boss battle was a whole new level.

Moving on from the subject, Xande should team up with COD in 012.

Oh god that trailer was so badass. The new Assist System looks pretty awesome too. I haven't been keeping myself updated with how it's going to work so can somebody answer me on whether or not you get to choose which character gets to assist you or are characters limited to a certain assist character like Kain only being able to assist Cecil and vice versa.

 

During Story Mode it'll probably be whomever the character's currently "working" with, like in the first game, Terra and Onion Knight travelled together, so if something like that happens again it'll likely be their Assist.

I was in GameStop today, checking release dates, and for Duodecim it was listed as April 1st, 2011. I know it's a suspicious date, but I reserved it so I'll post with updates if there are any to the US release date.

 

I second this notion.

I admit I was expecting more out of Lightning's in game appearance but i'll take it.

 

Woah the last 50 seconds I haven't seen before, glad it's translated now. xD Wish they had showed us a little more from the new characters though.

 

So agreed. I can't wait!
The Assit System looks awesome - Kain FTW.

EDIT - I've just checked out the Wikipedia page.
It has been reported there will be more than a handful of new characters - but not necessarily an equal number of heroes and villains like in the first game.
