Then maybe he'll see the light one day while working on (just saiyan) Kingdom Hearts III. Maybe that's what we'll see that's been missing all this time. Because in 358/2 Days, there was...no point to any of the other worlds, they were only there for the missions.

Meh. Either that or he will have some epiphany while working on FF Versus - XIII.

Let's just hope for that. Because if he doesn't....

    We're screwed.

Heres how I see it: The disney worlds provide morals and life lessons in addition to appealing to a younger audience because at times the KH story can be too dark for younger people.KH2 really was geared torward the older audience.I mean the younger people couldn't really relate to worlds like Steamboat Willie and Tron or maybe even Pirates of the Carribean.KH3D will have all new Disney worlds which could be a step in the right direction.I think they're trying to find a nice balance. So give them some slack at least they're trying.(I'm looking at you:people who came up with the new genration of pokemon)

Oh god, don't even bring that ridiculous nonsense up. Pokemon hasn't been cool in years.

But I do agree with you on points. For older movies like Tron, kids can't really related (unless they've seen the new one, but that doesn't count...) And "Steamboat Willie"? 1928. I doubt kids these days even knew Mickey Mouse existed back then, and it's a bit sad to see that. But yeah, the Disney part of the game shines to the younger ones and the story and characters and the darker points appeal to an older audience. That's why the game has been such a big success.

One thing you have to remember is first and foremost they are a buisiness.Their job is to sell games. They will try to a wide audience while trying to make whatever demographic will buy the most.If the children buy the most thats who they'll appeal to.They don't care if they're just slamming their hands on the controllers staring at mickey mouse.Right now the older audience is the the one buying the most.

Yeah, I've thought as such for quite a while now. Kingdom Hearts I seemed to have more care placed into it than Kingdom Hearts II. It's the small things, like the heartless each having their own little noise when hit, or the Gummi ships Keychains and magic having plot-relevance that make the games memorable. For Kingdom Hearts II, the worlds were battlefields, while in Kingdom Hearts I, they were worlds to be explored, each with their own quirk. Wonderland had a whole latter section that was only available via backtracking. Deep Jungle had the log sliding and vines. You could fly in Neverland and use elevators in Hollow Bastion. There were water physics too. In comparison, KHII seems to be fairly lacking in depth of gameplay.

One thing that set asside KH2 from KH1 is that it did not necessarily NEED to establish much of a presence of Disney that was created with the first. The second game was geared more toward an older audience yes which is why I believe a more RPG/FF storyline was incorporated. When the idea was first introduced I feel it was important for a stable of Disney (in this case, the Princesses) to be central because not many people knew what the demographic of a Disney / FF crossover was intended to be.

I believe that that is why Hollow Bastion was more of a centralized entity and the departure from most of the already created universes. However the ones that were reintroduced in 2 had darker underlying tones (The Underworld with Olympus, Beast's Castle) which played more to the older demographic.

As the trio age, so too does the audience, and because of this, the story become darker ... which is somewhat ironic considering the first game dealt with darkness and the second with nothingness ... but anyway ... As this has happened, the focus has turned away from the Disney and more onto the original places in the storyline, for example Hollow Bastion and Twilight Town. Is this a bad thing? No, I don't feel it is. One of the things I feel is very good about the series is its ability to set the scene, and when the story becomes as dark as it does some times, it really doesn't feel right to be running around the sunny Agrabah or singing *shudders* in Atlantica. I think that the darker Disney worlds (Port Royal, Pride Lands, Beasts Castle, Halloween Town etc), really set the tone for the second game, and while the lightheartedness of the Disney characters and storyline is still there, it still retains the more dark aspects inherent of the growing storyline.

I never really thought about it like this, mainly because it was the Disney worlds that got me interested in the game to begin with. Yes I agree to an extent, I do think they have relelvance like the game would be very different without them. I suppose it's the same with the final fantasy characters, are they essential, do they need to be there storywise or just there for fun? As people have said, it's appealing to a wide range of audiences, a game where various characters from other films and games are united in one universe.

So yes, I do think they are just put there in KH2 but I think it wouldn't be as good of a game without them. They really should do more to incorporate the characters into the story like in the first one as well as the Final fantasy characters (except I do think they have more relevance e.g. guiding Sora)
