Disney is coming out with their own Skylanders-style game, with many different properties being included. It is set for a release June 2013 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U.
Yes. That platform then scans the toys and you have them in the game. You can only use the characters as long as they are on the platform.
I saw this on a SourceFed video. I'm not initially interested, I like the style take on them, but since it was something similar to the Spyro Skylanders I can't bear to get it.
I feel you on that. It really limits the market to little kids. I don't see the point in needing a physical collection of figures in order to play a video game and it's expensive.
Sorry to bump this, but I was just realizing this today...I seem to recall Square and Disney deciding that Disney had legal ownership of the KH specific characters (Sora, Riku, Kairi, etc.). Is this possible we may see some KH thrown into the mix? I like the idea, I think its cute to be able to play with different characters much like playing with action figures and toys as a kid. There have been some people speculating that there is a chance we will see Star Wars and Marvel Characters in Disney Infinity, why not the KH series? Again, not saying it will happen, but I think it's an interesting possibility...
