Digital Persona Saga - Mask of Longing

"I can open a portal to where she is, but it will take a few days to lock on to her world, as I've never been there. It'll take a lot out of me as well, so once I open the portal, I won't be able to open one for you to return for at least a month.

 

Cara's eyes were sad as she looked at him, "That's fine. I'm not ready to die just yet. But...i don't think I'll be coming back. If this works and Lesa wishes on it for me...I won't ever be coming back." Zalera made one last effort and stood beside her, "...I'll be alone again...for eternity this time..." Cara patted his feathers, "You'll find someone else to hang around. If all else fails, you can hang out with Hattori here."

 

Hattori nodded and flew back to the mansion.

 

Cara walked along, feeling a bit better. She hoped her pendent was still in her coffin. The thought of digging up her old grave made her tremble and feel sick. Zalera wrapped his wing around her and fused with her, letting her borrow his wing to fly back to the mansion or wherever she wanted.

 

Hattori landed and went inside. He began to meditate to focus on the world he was going to open a portal to. He would go into a trance and not respond to anything.

 

Cara flew to the cemetary and sat, leaning on a grave that surprisingly had her name on it too, "Hmm, so I've been alive in this world too..." Zalera rested inside her. She thought, "Thank you Hattori."

 

A few days later, Hattori came out of his trance and cut the air with his scythe, opening a portal to the other world.

 

Cara stood waiting beside him. The past days, she'd spent setting her resolve. Death was only the beginning... She hugged Hattori, "I wish I could say good bye to everyone else, but I'm afraid it'll just make them too sad. Good bye Hattori, I'm glad I got to meet you." Zalera shifted and she smiled, "Oh, and Zalera too." Cara stepped through the portal...

 

As soon as she entered the portal, it sealed behind her.

 

Cara stood in what looked like an old cemetary no one had used in a while. "It looks...better than before." Zalera nodded and they went off in search of her grave in the cemetary, "It's nice that we're already in the cemetary." She stopped at the little grave with her name on it. Cara sighed and Zalera dug through the dirt. She just hoped no one would notice her defiling a grave.

 

Shin went to the graveyard to pay his respects to his mother. He was nowhere near Cara to notice what she was doing.

 

Arisa was by herself, in the garden and sighed/

 

Cara hauled up her coffin, such a tiny coffin at that. "Small for a little girl." Prying open the rotted wood was easy, the smell rose to her nose and Cara gagged. Covering her nose and mouth she shakily dug around the bones and rotted cloth for the gold pendent. Cara sat back after a few minutes with a groan, "It's not here! Well, where is it!" she shouted, frustrated.

 

Shin looked up from his mother's grave, startled by Cara's shouting.

 

Suki, who was paying respect for her parents, looked around for the source of the shouts.

 

Cara tossed the coffin back in and started shoveling dirt back onto it, ignoring Shin. "How can it not be there. Who could've taken it. I saw them put it on me when i died!" Zalera formed beside her and silently thought over the events.

 

Shin stood up and left. He didn't recognize Cara, so he wanted nothing to do with her.

 

Suki sighed and left.

 

Shin couldn't help but wonder what Cara had been talking about.

 

Cara left and walked to the last place she'd been before leaving Lesa.


Lesa had spent so much time with Sky she felt a part of him now. As she walked through town she stopped by the cemetary to reminicse about her sister. Cara's little grave was dug up and covered again. Lesa dropped to her knees, "Cara...this was all I had and now...who could've done this?"
