Digital Persona Saga - Mask of Longing

The man walked up to Cara.

Arisa smiled.

Minato sighed.

 

"Find anything interesting in there, Minato?"

Shin got up and stretched.

 

Cara stopped and a look sadder than she had a real right to express folded over her face. "Hmm, who are you?" Zalera nudged her and she added, "Uh, sir."

 

"My mother was very supportive of the relationship between my father and your mom."

Arisa got dressed.

~

"Toya Suzuhara, Minato's father."

 

Shin got dressed and walked with Arisa to the main hall.

"I remember you telling me that one time, Minato." Hattori said.

 

Cara looked like she was about to cry again, "Oh...sorry." Zalera turned his eyeless eyes away from Toya and Cara and looked toward Minato and Hattori.

 

Toya smiled and changed into a wolf, then walked away, as he passed Minato, who nodded at Hattori's reply, he disappeared.

Arisa followed him.

 

Shin sat down and began to plan the wedding.

"Did something just walk past you?" Hattori asked.

 

Arisa sighed.

"Huh?" Minato looked around.

 

Cara sat next to Minato and Hattori and thumped her head on the table. Zalera brushed a stream of frost across the table, writing, 'She refuses to accept her past. I'm out of ideas.'

 

Hattori looked at the table and saw the writing.

"Why are you rejecting your past, Cara?"

Shin finished the plans and passionately kissed Arisa.

 

Cara lifted her head, saw the writing and scowled at Zalera, "Zalera..." she sighed and looked mournfully at Hattori, "I can't deal with all that and the present. It's hard enough to think that my sister has to fend for herself against something I don't even know about. I can't think about all the times I've apparently failed to protect her." Zalera wrote impatiently, 'The past doesn't have to repeat itself. I can protect you this time.'

 

Minato sighed and left.

 

"At least you didn't have to see your sister murdered before your very eyes." Hattori said.

 

Cara groaned, "But I won't be there to protect her." Zalera clawed the frosted table with his wing and unfurled both his wings, letting the shamaness' scream reverberate through the house. Cara covered her ears and cried out, "Stop it!"

 

Hattori covered his ears.

 

Zalera's shamaness' scream ended and he folded up his wings with a chilling whisper, "...stop dwelling on your sister...fate has a different path for her...Orphan should be our priority..." Cara wanted to hide from Zalera's truth. She breathed out it's name, "Orphan..."

 

"What's this Orphan you're talking about?"

 

Cara couldn't explain, she had no idea. Zalera turned his attention to him, "...Long before you were born...a creature like us was left by the gods...along with a girl...this girl and the creature felt they'd been abandoned by the gods...thus calling itself Orphan... he drew a picture of a half hidious creature and half a beautiful woman fused together and a girl standing before them that looked, if she looked close enough, exactly like Cara. "...The girl could control death...me...but Orphan was jealous...it wanted the gods to come back and reflourish the land...sacrificing thousands of people, it was forced to a halt by the girl and I... he stopped on a chuckle that sent shivers up Cara's spine.

 

"So this thing is hunting you and anyone that you've come in contact with?"
