Digital Persona Saga - Mask of Longing

Zalera flew up and landed curiously behind Minato. His chill touched her as gently as death could. She wasn't the one to die but he was curious about the girl who'd come from somewhere else and brought them with.

 

Hattori's right arm went limp. Metatron focused his essence to reanimate it.

 

Minato smiled and sighed when she felt the chill.

 

Zalera whispered to her mind, "...Minato..."

 

"I'm not scared of you, Zalera. I've already seen death too many times before. What do you want?"

 

"I was just wondering, guess you're not the person to ask then... But I've been feeling something else other than Nyx for a while now... It's probably nothing. I don't know."

 

Zalera had no humor left in him, "...I don't mean to frighten you...your...Hattori of this world...Metatron cannot protect him forever. A life must be taken...do you object...?"

 

Hattori shrugged and turned back to the castle, picking off another scout he saw.

 

Snow went to the forest and sat there, finding his other persona.

 

"Do what you must."

 

Zalera bowed elegantly and warped into town. Keeping himself invisible to the normal noblemen he sat outside a house with a fleeting soul. When the others had left her alone he suddenly sat on her bed and watched her die painfully. She prayed, "Let me go quickly." Zalera stretched open his wings and revealed the shamaness. She cried out, her cry sending the old woman's soul fleeing her body and into Zalera's open skull mouth. He returned to Lesa who now sat calmly on the grass, toying with a knife. "...Your debt is...repaid..."

 

Hattori watched the sun rise and sighed.

"I would have enjoyed seeing the sun rise if I wasn't already dead."

 

Minato stood a few feet behind him and watched the sun rise.

 

"How long have you been standing there, Minato?"

 

"A while........ Are you scared of dying again?"

 

"No. Dying the first time kind of took all the fear out of it."

 

"I see....... I was never scared of dying, cause I've caused it so many times."

 

Hattori stretched and sighed.

"We should get ready to move out."

 

"Right.........."

 

Lesa walked back to the rebel base carefully avoiding the path of unnatural frost left by Zalera. If any persona frightened her, it was him. The Death Seraph, Zalera.

Cara sat by a small pool of water. It was her third time expending all her energy to manifest herself. Zalera stood beside her. "I don't like your payment system." He didn't move and expelled the soul he'd taken into the water, "...If it were my choice...I wouldn't require it...You command death...do not fear death..." Cara was afraid but she'd never admit that to Zalera.
