Digital Persona Saga - Mask of Longing

Hattori looked towards the castle as he stood on guard. He placed a hand on a large scar on his chest.

"You were lucky I came to you when I did, Hattori. Without me, you'd still be dead."

"I still am, Metatron. Only your essence and sheer will are keeping me alive enough to take my vengence."

 

Minato appeared at the lake, sitting in the tree next to it. She just felt the wind through the leaves.

 

Cara's form wavered and flickered out like a candle light and with her Zalera disappeared. Lesa's legs shook as she walked out of the room and outside, where she fell to her knees, "Jesus."

 

"We've got to end this war soon, Hattori. I have no idea how much longer I can keep your body animated."

"I know, Metatron." Hattori replied as he picked off a scout from the castle.

 

Suki was hiding behind a large rock, holding her sniper gun close.

 

Snow sneaks up on Hattori. "So, you are dead."

 

Hattori walked up behind Suki.

"Head off to bed, Suki. Metatron and I have things covered out here."

He then turned to Snow.

"In a manner of speaking. I can't rest until my father lies dead."

 

Styria laid a hand on her shoulder and Zalera maifested itself in front of her. His eyeless sockets stared at her with an unending blackness. A whisper ran through her mind and a chill down her spin, "...payment..." Lesa wanted to scream but she bit her lip hard enough to taste blood.

 

Suki headed off to the base and looked back at the castle.

 

"So the only thing keeping you alive is your persona? I'm impressed."

 

Hattori nodded.

"I have to keep myself awake. If I go unconsious, there's a chance that Metatron's essence might lose its connection with me, essentially killing me again."

 

Bahamut flashed before Zalera and Lesa. He roared, towering above Zalera. Zalera didn't flinch and repeated his word with more of a chill to the air. Unnatural frost formed on the trees and grass around them.

 

"Again? And how many times have you died exactly?"

 

Minato was hiding and listened to Hattori and Snow

 

"Only once, but if I die again, that's it. Metatron would die with me."

 

"What about your sister? She would surely miss her young brother."

 

"I see... Hey I've been meaning to ask you something, but... Um, how many personas do you have again."

 

"Just Metatron, why do you ask?"

 

Lesa swallowed, "What kind of payment?" Zalera's frost receeded, "...life...payment..." Bahamut flapped his large wings and his tail wrapped around Lesa, protectively. Zalera hesitated, and spoke a full sentence to her, "Many have escaped my grasp. You, I cannot touch. My lady commands I not touch her sister as you share a body. Grant me a temporary leave so I might find a soul." Lesa nodded.

 

Minato listened to them.
