So yesterday me and my friends were talking way home. So something suddenly comes: what would worth dying for?

I remember one day my friend said me that die for something is meaningless. I answered him but, if it is to save somebody?; so he changed his mind saying ...it depents of who.

What do you guys think about this? Die for something is meaningless? Or there is something that is worth of giving your own life?

To me, if it is to save somebody that I love, I would die without thinking twice. My friends gave me the same answer. For one friend, she said especially for her younger sister; other friend, he said especially for the older brother. I say I would die especially my bests friends Lexibrag, Evil Twin and Trulyyy.
Of course, we agree that we would do the same for other people we love.

And you? Do you think there is something that you would die to protect? What is that?
Do you agree that it would be somebody you love?

Edit: That it would be hard to decide? Or easy to decide?

Edit: I'm not emo as well. =P

Dying for somebody i love? I'd do it, no hesitation involved. If it's someone i care about, then i'd rather they live than i live. And no, i'm not emo :P
Really as long as i die for a cause and don't just have a pointless death i'm fine with it.

    To die for someone/something..........

I don't really know. Sure friends say they do these things, but would you really throw everything away for an individual?

I may say "Yea, I would die for my friend." Next day a car is about to hit him, would I push him out of the way? Would I even be able to react fast enough?

Tis something that should be more thought out rather than said so easily. I don't think there's any shame in those that say they wouldn't be able to.

Just saying when a situation presents itself such as pushing someone away from being hit a car or something along those lines, you don't get time to think should or shouldn't I do this. It is an instant choice that may or may not be what you thought you were going to do.

As for dying for someone you love. This is very hard because a lot of times things get in the way and make it more complicated. When you are put into a situation where you need to make a choice. Having more time is actually worse than an instant reaction.

    This.

To be honest, if I had time to think about something I'd try and weigh the possible outcomes of a situation first. Saying I'd immediately die for someone would mean that their own life is more important than my own. Unless it was multiple people I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to get myself killed to save just one person(unless of course I acted first which I just might). Yeah you can go save someone you really care about but you have to look at the other side too. If you can't save them would life still be worth living? Of course it would.

Meh. This kind of thing is too subjective. >> There are things worth dying for...just not very many. Sometimes even a single life isn't worth it. Unless of course you're a scumbag.

Ngh . . . I don't know what I would die for. Then again, it really depends on the situation. Even though I'm pretty detached from my family, if it came down to it, I would die for one of them.

Then there's the matter of pushing someone out of the way of a car, or protecting someone from a shot, these are more instantaneous decisions. If I end up dying, then I can say I may have died for a good cause, but I would think 'So much wasted time', and I would regret it a little.

If I had to decided between my death or the death of one of you guys here, I would choose my own life; I don't know you guys that well. Same goes for people at school that I may be just friends with or know.

Eh, kind of a tough question.

Yeah, if there isn't much time to think, the decision would be harder.
And I would say "yes". I would throw away everything.

But, to yours example (the car crush), there isn't much time... you can just hear tick-tock, tick-tock.... If I could, I would program my body: "If something happens, please... save them. Do it, without thinking twice. Please..."; so everytime I think about something like death or anything like that, (I get scary, but) I tell myself this.

The people I love, I would say they are my life. So I would throw it away.

    Edit:
Yeah, you don't know anyone here too well, that's the why we say "the ones we love". To you, your family, for example.
And I agree, 'st you must see the situation. If there is anyway to get outta this, together with the others you love, it would be the best answer.

I'm kind of religious, and my parents always said, "Don't be afraid of death. If God planned it out and you have good faith and have not committed too many sins, you know where you're going."

I kind of agree. Basically, if God wants you to die, you die.

But, don't you have any care for your life? I know your friends and family are precious to you, but sometimes things happen, and you can't do anything about it, no matter how hard you try. Although I don't fully agree with Te Deum's statement, somethings can not be avoided.

My folks have a good base on their idea, but I'm not too sure. I do believe in fulfilling a sort of purpose, though.

Yes, I do care about my life, but I think I can't explain too well this... I just know that they are more important to me than my life is. Doesn't mean i don't care about my life...

And, if they die while I tried to protect them... first I would get pissed off, of course, then I would get really sad. But, if they die and I tried to protect them, I think I should try to take a deep breath and, with they in my heart, keep up going ahead with my life... I think they would say to me that they are with me and I should do this.

I used to feel the same way. Now I'm not so sure. I still believe the departed are still with me in spirit. But I don't know how they feel about me at this point in my life.

I think that if you is truely loved, the love will never change. It is the bond that will connect us with the ones that already are... gone in the world, but never in ours hearts.

Wanting to save someone, even if this mean giving up of you life, is proof that you really love that person, and that he/she will always be with you, I believe.

    Death is something I fear.
To save someone I love from the fear I feel everyday? I'd gladly send myself spiraling into my own abyss.
For a stranger, I probably wouldn't die for them - I would of course help all I could, but not with my life.

Well, I wouldn't want anyone risking their life for mine. I don't ask for much, and a life is the highest price to pay.

I know I'm loved by people, I just don't always feel "whole" if that makes any sense.

Well, if a situation in which you could risk your life for someone arises, you probably wouldn't really get the opportunity to decide and you would just go with your gut instinct, and that's what reveals whether you would do it or not, since, with thinking comes hesitation. With instinct, you just go with it.

Now, I, personally, don't know. I guess it depends on the situation. Like, if I could somehow save what I would die for, along with myself, I would try to save me, too. But, if I couldn't, then it depends on what it's for. Most likely, it'd be a person. If it were someone I love, I might try. I might hesitate, too. I honestly don't know.

    I'd die for her.

Why? I can't imagine life without her, but I know for a fact that she would be able to go on without me. Better for me to die and her to live on knowing that I felt strongly enough to die for her than for her to die and my life be ruined forever. Better one wrong than two, eh?

There's a few friends I'd die for, and I wouldn't even hesitate to die in stead of my sisters.

I'd probably die for some of the kids I take care of, especially my young cousins.
