Kingdom Hearts II did it ever bother you

did it ever bother you that you have to finish a combo to kill a boss? it realy got on my nerves when fighting sephiroth because i had mp berserk on and i always ended up running out of elixers be4 he got down to 1 hp... (ended up winning by randomley pressing square button and ending the combo...)

 

yes! I died far too many times because of this stupid combo finisher thing, espically when I didnt have magic!

 

Yes. The worst for me was Sephiroth. I've never beaten him because of it D:

Just turn off berserker and all the combo finisher adder thingies.

This. I hated it. I had all the mega combos and when I'd use trinity limit or another limit i'd get so pissed cuz I couldn't kill the stupid boss!

 

That wasn't a problem for me.
I just saved my magic to use it as a finisher, and if magic didn't work then a limit. Made things much easier.

 

If you're having trouble with finishers you can use abilities like upper slash and horizontal slash. They coun't as finishers and can be used in the middle of a combo.

 

yes! that's why i can't beat sephiroth. cause of a stinking combo.

 

Yes, but finishers deal more damage when you need them. So it really would suck to have to take them off and equip different abilities.​

 

well even mid-air you can finish off a boss with on press of the square button, its not as strong but it works as a combo finisher on bosses. even when your in berserk. i've killed sephiroth plenty of times but doing that.

 

I always annoyed me with that. Thank god I had that add-on where it would make sure to leave one HP before dying. The healing magic was a blessing. <3

 

Actually, that ability (Horizontal Slash) is probably the strongest "normal" attack Sora can do. These videos demonstrate it sorta well:

Well I think its mainly for cinematic purposes to have a combo finisher there, since most of sora's finishers are a flash of light, which goes perfect with destroying darkness.

In order to make things a little easier on you, it might be a good idea to equip negative combo as an ability.

 

This annoyed me sometimes, yet I soon got over it. It makes it easy to get ready for an epic ending.

 

Yup made me mad when this happened to me when i was fighting Terra i was like Comeon recharge Quick or he'll do his DM on me XD

 

Yes sometimes it was really annoying... like in the boss battle in the Pirates of the Caribbean, where it was already hard to hit him as you had to gather all the coins, but you also had to finish him off with a combo. In a case like that, the difficulty bar is raised a lot.
But in some other battles, where hitting a boss is easier, then there wasn't really much difference, since it was like you had already beaten him and sometimes they would even let you finish them off.

 

It certainly bothered me at times, I'd sometimes have to do the combo 10+ times because the enemies caught me in the animation to the finisher. It was nice.

It never really bothered me since I never bothered to equip too many Combo Pluses most of the time. A three or four hit combo was good enough for me and I always thought that the AP could be used on something else. Sure more hits could be helpful but moves like Horizontal Slash and Explosion also did a good amount of damage too. I haven't played the games in a while but couldn't you also finish them off with magic too?

 

Yes, if I remember correctly you could finish them off with magic instead.

 

You've gotta admit though, finishing them off with magic just seems so... Anti-climatic, using the keyblade looks so much cooler, which is why this sucks :B
