I never noticed that. I'm agreeing with some of the others that it was just because it was bright when he died.

The other guys whose elements were shown either blotted out the black, or there wasn't black.
How do you guys not remember these, then rebuke what I said?

It's not like I said anything about the other guys, so why use them as an argument?

I think it was a burst of water, but it's possible that he somehow escaped. Also, in Wikipedia it reads that some of them die, while others, like Xemnas, Xigbar, Demyx fade in to darkness. Dunno if that means anything, though...

I actually did notice. I am not really sure why that's the case of his death though, for light to appear and circle around him. He still did fade into the darkness, but light just came.
I also noticed it with Roxas's defeat as well. A bunch of Light shined upon him and then he disappeared.(In the world that never was, when Sora defeated him.)

So, I agree with this thread about how Demyx's death is unusual compared to the others.

Axel technically did die in flame, as he used the kamikaze attack. My memory is a bit rusty, but I remember him slowly fading away while Sora was talking to him. Well, while he was fading away, he was dying, which meant, he died in a flame.

Demyx died with a lot of light? Are you sure? His element is not light, it is Water. It may have been just the location of where you fought him, the entrance to all those open canyons, cliffs and crevices. It could simply be the sun reflecting off the water around him, making him look like he died in light.

All nobodies fade into darkness. They really can't truly "die".

Lol, he actually did use a Kamikaze attack, which was really helpful to Sora, but not helpful to himself. Demyx did seem to actually have some light shining around him though.

Once again, it may be the sunlight around him. Take into account Demyx was the only member we ever truly fought in the daytime. Though, I may be wrong on this.

Axel fought in the daytime. But at that time, he was a broken member of the Organization..so, it doesn't count that much. But he WAS part of the Organization.

But you didn't defeat him in broad daylight, unlike you beat Demyx. Axel died in that weird 'in the middle'-place, uhh, Betwixt and Between, or something like that.

Yes, it was Betwixt and Between. I wonder why they call it "Betwixt".

Wow. Betwixt does not have a red line underneath it. Honestly, I never have heard the word before KH.

    Here's what our dictionary says:
Don't know if that helped at all... But I've definitely seen the phrase before.

And (semi-)on topic: Maybe Demyx is alive, maybe he's a Somebody now, maybe we get to see the entire Organization in the next game again!!! *hoping, hoping*

    Thanks for the entry.

About the Organization somebodies, some are fine, but all of them are a little corny.

Ok so all of you know the truth. Demyx is my favorite character of all of Kingdom Hearts so I've done a lot of research of his character, what his motives are and what he reveals and hides which parallels to all of your therories of the whole fading in light water darkness topics.

First off when Roxas joined the Organization, Axel was put in charge of him and since Demyx always looked up to Axel with a high regard, he befriended Roxas as well even though nobodies can't truly have any feelings for anything and that each nobody has their own alterior motive as explained in a interview with the creator of the game Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days.

So in order to hide his motives, Demyx acted in a friendly gesture alongside of Axel who took a liking to Roxas and accompanied him with his missions whereas Demyx was seen as imcompedent by the other members and could most likey not be trusted to do any missions that were very important at that time. Now it is not explained what Demyx has been doing or what his motives are so one can only assume that he did what he was told to do by the senior members and stayed out of their way so not to get in trouble for that could spell some sort of harsh punishement by Xemnas.

Once Roxas betrayed Organization XIII with the unknown reason as of now, Demyx changed his outlook on the 13th member viewing him as a traitor. This is due to the fact that Demyx has an other side; his true nature of what he conceals from the rest of the organization and anyone else. His true nature or true self is where his intentions are kept hidden due to reasons that would most likely bring forth speculation amongst the members and put him in dangerous situations so he puts on this farce to fool everyone and make them think he is not a threat.

With that all in mind,Where Nothing Gathers Xemnas orders Demyx to go after Sora and Xigbar reminds him once again as told in the Kingdom Hearts II novel .
Demyx comes upon Sora knowing in true nature that Roxas is in the vessel of Sora. After Sora beats him the first time without even fighting him except his water clones, Demyx speaks to Sora and says "Roxas come back to us" and then vanishes most likey back to the World that Never Was.

The second time in Hollow Bastion, Demyx appears again and acts in a friendly manner towards Sora once again trying to fool him. Sora insults him and the nobody reminds him by saying the quote "You shouldn't judge anyone by appearance." He was hoping that Sora would get the hint and almost completly fools him when Sora puts his guard down; however Goofy and Donald remind Sora that nobodies don't have hearts. Knowing Sora is not going to fall for his deciet anymore, Demyx then reveals his true side and says "Silence traitor!" His expression becomes deathly serious, his tone much lower and his eyes a sinister narrowed glare. His true motives about Roxas are fully revealed and he fights to the best of his ability much to the shock of Sora and his comrades.

When Sora does defeat Demyx, his beloved sitar disappears leaving him in shock and horror when he feels his spirit fading back into the darkness. When he screams his last words "No way!" he is clearly attempting to show horror and fright like that of someone who is afraid to die not knowing what will happen once it happens. He then cries out and moans as a light shoots from his soul wheras his element of water disapates and the darkness takes him. The light that is shown is clearly that of his element of water as well as could be his soul leaving for he did act like he did have a heart like Axel showed therefore his entire body was not covered in darkness (he wasn't as evil as the others were). Let's not forget that his true side however was just as ruthless and devious as the others which was why his body did fade away into the darkness like the rest. With these two speculations set in place , Demyx's defeat was very unique from the rest which explains there is more to his charcter that meets the eye.

Thank you very much that means a lot to me. I would love to be friends.

Getting back on topic it just makes a lot of sense of who his character is and why the creator chose for his defeat to be different from the rest. There is something that is hidden which makes Demyx so unique.

    Awesome post watermage. ^_^ ! ! ! ! ! !

Yes he hated fighting, but seriously he was very good at it when you made him really mad. Dang he could whip out that sitar like if it were a sword and he was fast and it was cool when he would flash across the screen with his jet streams of water and play his sitar with bubbles shoving Sora into a wall. (Similar to Axel's which was fire that he used to flash through the screen, and for the record he did not die in a flame, that was his sucide attack.) Demyx's death was sad, but also symbolic when it showed him having some sort of emotion almost crying when his beloved Sitar had disappeared and his element vanquishing as he slowly faded into darkness.

Unlike the other members who had faded fast with the darkness surrouding their body. Axel and Demyx were the only nobodies to fade into darkness slowly.
