Demons and Heroes

"Gharanth yawned and stretched. He felt better after his sleep, a lot better. All his wounds had healed and he felt stronger than ever. He noticed that his skin had taken on a strange greenish tint, probably a side effect of the nature orb and his talons were black. 'I look like a zombie, cute' he thought.Getting up he decided to hunt. The kill was easy as he felt full of energy. Roasting the kill he sat down to enjoy the spoils. The first mouthful made him nauseous. He couldn't believe it. Brilliant healing powers but he couldn't eat meat. Well that would help the image of fear, not!

ooc: Not going after the light orb. Thought I'd let someone else hunt stray orbs after the last epic. It beats just fighting and takes more imagination.

 

Cole saw Jecht and stood up, ready to fight to protect his one true love, Natalie.

 

Wandering out of the cave, Gharanth noticed Cole getting ready to fight. He wondered whether he should help or just enjoy the entertainment. He leaned against a tree and watched. There would be a good fight if he was lucky.

"not here to fight you this time i want information where are the other orbs?"

 

Aroe steps up from in the woods, holding out his wind orb. "Looking for this?" He raised an eyebrow at Jecht. He was still ticked about him trying to take Natalie's orb away. Aroe frowned at him. If Jecht had tried to take Natalie's like that, he would no doubt want the other orbs too. And Aroe had a feeling that Jecht would kill to get what he wanted.
'So many people are gonna die if someone doesn't stop him.'

 

"Are we playing 'show and tell' then? I would show you but I can't. Never mind. Lets just say I have something but you can't see it."

 

Aroe recoiled a bit, mouth gapped and eyes wide. He knew he must have looked pretty stupid.
"You...you got it..."

 

"You mean you doubted me? Naughty! Of course I got it though it was hard work. Now if I was the monster you painted me as do you really think you'd still be standing here. Give me some credit for honour. I have a past but so does everyone else, and I seem to be acting as the civilised one here."

 

Aroe had his hand on his blade but hadn't drawn it.
"I don't see you without honor, Gharanth. I see you as a heartless scoundrel. You show respect and honor but you really don't care. When you kill someone, you don't think of a life lost. I know you don't."

 

"Look boy, I have lost more than you will ever know. Don't judge what you neither know or understand. If you had lived my life then you would probably be worse than me. The fact that I have honour proves that I am better than you could ever aspire to be under the circumstances. Put your toy away and grow up. This is reality and it sucks!"

 

"DONT LECTURE ME ABOUT HOW AWEFUL YOUR LIFE HAS BEEN! You have no idea..." Aroe squeezed his eyes shut, holding back tears. "And just because you lost your girlfriend........You had a fine life! And one thing went wrong and now you find it hard to care just a little bit! Get the heck over it!!!!!"

 

"No, that's all you know of me, not the whole story. I'm not going to tell a whining pipsqueak like you the whole truth. Just leave me." Gharanth balled his fists and tears welled in his eyes. None of them knew him and they had no idea. He wouldn't react though, he wouldn't give them the satisfaction. He turned and walked slowly away.

 

Aroe ground his teeth as Gharanth walked away. His tears were falling hard now and he didn't even care. Gharanth may have had it hard but he didn't understand Aroe at all. Gharanth wasn't the only deamon with problems.
Aroe shivered. It had gotten a bit dark but it wasn't that that made him scarred. It was the solitary on the woods around him.
'I'm alone...alone again...'
"Maybe you're right, dad...maybe i was just a mistake."

 

Gharanth slumped by the stream. So much death and destruction and he had been the cause of it. His loss had turned his mind and he had betrayed his own kind to the opposition. He had killed his own people in cold blood. Men, women and children. When he had regained his sanity he had to live with the truth. Sometimes he hated life. Why try to do the right thing? He fought with himself every day.

 

Aroe wiped his eyes on his sleeve. He was acting like such a baby. But he felt like he was gonna explode. He'd never been able to just be a kid. Not after his human father slaughtered his deamon mother. Not after his father and brother tossed him out of the house in shame of his deamon side. Not after-
Aroe moaned and curled up in a tiny ball, touching his old scars that had begun to hurt again and trying to make himself as invisible as he felt. Something he's wanted since he was five.

Gharanth heard the crying. Part of his cold heart stirred but he didn't move. If he showed emotion he would show weakness. He got up and walked away. It was better for all involved. He wasn't safe to be around.
