Twilight knelt down with him,wrapping her arms tight around him and not letting go. "We're almost there, my love. Almost..." She forced the picture of the allusion out of her head. He was more important than anything had ever been to her.

 

"Lets go on and get this over with. I just want this to finish so we can walk away. I prefer the fighting to this."

While Gharanth and Twilight were going through the challenges, Xana appeared in the last room of the temple.

He walked over to a table with a rusted sword on it.

Xana:
It's been a while, hasn't it?

*the sword glows a little*

Xana:
There are 2 intruders in the temple, but the traps don't seem to stop them.
What should I do?

*the sword glows some more*

Xana:
Understood....

*Xana disappears*

Twilight stood with Gharanth. "Just a little farther...a little more..." She looked at the shattered mirror. Anything was better than this nightmare.

 

"The mirror shatters as do many of our dreams. I have long awaited the day that my nightmares will finally be over and I truly believe that the last test has destroyed the last of my insecurities when the mirror shattered. Each shard represents a fear that I clung to."

Gharanth smiled and the lines seemed to drop from his face. The darkness that clung desperately to his soul was at last gone and his eyes sparkled with the rejuvenation of a soul reborn.

"There will never be another time like this my love. Whatever we face from now on cannot cut me as deep or show me what a fool I was to doubt my own strength. I will shield you from the darkness and you shall never walk the shadows alone ever again."

 

Gharanth's new strength boosted Twilight's courage. It broke through the dark cloud that had been wafting overhead since they had entered the temple. For the first time since then, she felt safe...

 

"We can progress without any problems. I realise now that my biggest fear and limitation is my own insecurity. I will face whatever is thrown at me and stand firm. You have nothing to fear."

Gharanth held her in his arms and wrapped his tail around her waist.

"I will always love you and you can rely on me to take you through any challenge."

 

Twilight felt a feeling of comfort waft into her heart and her knees felt weak. She stood in Gharanth's arms for a moment, drowning in his love for her. He was perfect in so many ways. She felt unworthy in such a presence.

 

"Why do I feel intoxicated in your presence? It is as if you are the very air I need to survive. Without you I have no reason to continue my pitiful existence."
Gharanth held her close, taking a break from the challenge and drowning in her closeness.

 

"Gharanth..." She wanted to say more but her head felt light. It was a nice feeling though and she wove her hands into Gharanth's, tilting her head back to look at him. The temple didn't exist anymore. It was just her and him in a world where only the two of them existed.

 

Gharanth smiled as he held her hand. It seemed so small and fragile and yet he knew of the hidden strength that Twilight possessed. She was his inspiration, his reason to want to be a better man.

"I wish we could be like this forever."

Gharanth closed his eyes and dreamt of a future at her side.

Reality hit Gharanth like icy water in the face. His countenance changed as he became more serious and sombre.

"We have to move on. Sadly dreaming may be pleasant but it won't solve this accursed temple that has been a tomb for so many. I would class it more as a mausoleum. The sooner we are finished here the sooner we can achieve the heights to which our dreams fly."
