Demons and Heroes

Twilight took his hand, drawing her own sword with her other just in case.

ooc: leaving to eat dinner soon but ill be back after that.

 

Gharanth took her hand and pushed the door open. "Lets face the contents of this room then."

ooc: Have a good meal.

 

Twilight followed close beside him.

 

"It seems safe enough. The trap must have been triggered if the riddle was answered incorrectly. Come my love, an empty room is nothing to be scared of."

 

"I'm not afraid with you around, Gharanth." She still stayed close. The temple was giving her the creaps. She didn't know when it would end and when things would shoot from the walls. It was mostly guess and check in the dark.

 

"Sometimes I get scared as well. You don't need to pretend you are brave. This place is enough to scare the bravest person. I think that this is part of the test. We just need to stick it out."

 

Twilight wondered how he could see right through her sometimes. It was like he could read her mind, see right into her soul. He knew her so well. It amazed her.

 

"It's alright Twilight, I will care for you. You can do whatever you like and I will always love you the same." Gharanth put his arm around her. Whatever is in here, I can be scarier. Remember that."

 

Twilight smiled. "Well than this place can't be sooo scary cause you aren't horrifying at all. Not to me at least."

 

"There is a chamber beyond this I'm guessing. The next test with be another mental one. I'm guessing that each level tests a different facet."

 

"Mental...good...I don't think i could deal with more snakes at the moment."

 

"Snakes are living things and can be killed. These tests work with your darkest fears and those cannot be killed easily."

 

Twilight shivered. Her darkest fear. She wondered what that would look like. Perhaps a dead version of Gharanth. Yes, that was definatly something to fear. Gharanth...dead... She wouldn't be able to take that.

 

The next chamber consisted of a huge mirror against one wall and rolling mist. Unseen forces separated them and the doors slammed shut. "Remember you see things that aren't real. Face your fears!"

 

Twilight swallowed hard, trembling as she walked up to the mirror and looked into it. It was normal at first. She could see herself and behind her was Gharanth, watching her. He stood, strong and brave one moment, then his face sunk in and his eyes faded, blood covering his torso as the allusion opened it's mouth in a silent cry of pain.
Tears filled Twilight's eyes and she tightened her hands into fists, screaming at the allusion. "Gharanth!"

 

Gharanth saw himself in armour brandishing the flame sword. Behind him a village burned and on the floor casually tossed aside was the broken body of Twilight. "NO!" Gharanth screamed and fell to his knees. He closed his eyes and then they snapped open. "THIS IS ALL ILLUSION. You have no power over me!". The mirror in front of him shattered but instead he saw Twilight and her suffering, and worse still, he could neither reach her nor speak with her.

ooc: No problem but I have to go soon.

 

Twilight clentched her teeth tightly, tears blurring her vision. "It's not real....it's not real..." She turned her eyes back towards the mirror to try to face it and saw the bloody lips of Gharanth opening his mouth, saying her name in his voice. That sweet voice.
She shook her head. 'Not real...'
"You can't scare me!" She yelled, voice cracking. "You aren't real! It's not happening!"
The mirror shattered to a million peices.

 

Gharanth ran to her and hugged her, freed at last from the spell. "You are my brave lady." He kissed her gently, then dropped to his knees, sobbing.
