Demons and Heroes

ooc: YES! This is gonna be fun.

Twilight stopped. There was a strange look to the path in front of them. Like someone had scattered sand over it. She raised an eyebrow, taking a small step forward into the sandy area, wondering why it was different from the rest of the floor. She didn't have time to realize what it was for the second she put down her weight, she sank into the quicksand.

 

Gharanth reached out to grab her arm "Don't struggle." He caught hold of her and lay across the floor, holding her with his might. "Use me to climb up I will act as a support. You won't hurt me so don't be timid. I'll help as much as I can."

 

She clutched his arm, still chest deep in the sand. "Where's...the earth orb when...you need it?" She managed a smile, pulling herself up little by little. She paused for a moment. Looking i at the quicksand. "Kind of weak isn't it?" She asked, still struggling out of the sand. "Something isn't right..."
Just as she said it, the temperature began to drop.
'Ghosts...'

ooc: decided that quicksand was too easy for level two...or three...whatever level their on. How about some undead spirits? I hear they really Liven the place up!...I know...that was aweful...

 

"Ghosts are part of the darkness and I control the darkness orb. This is not so scary. The quicksand must have been the trigger, releasing them when it was disturbed. Shall we see what is coming then."

 

Twilight dusted some sand off herself, still nervous dispite Gharanth's assurance. She looked towards the quicksand she had been in just seconds ago, feeling aweful vibes gushing from it. A second later, transparent figures burst from the sand, their mangled faces the ones or warriors that had at one point, been human.

 

Gharanth frowned. "Why is it always warriors? Can't we have bunnies for a change? Ok then, have it your way." He drew his flame sword.

 

Twilight drew her own blade. "I'd much rather prrefer, bunnies...living...breathing...not dead bunnies." The warriors charged at them. Twilight counted five of them.

 

Gharanth surrounded them with a wall of darkness to keep the ghosts back. . I don't think that will hold forever but it will give us time to work out how these are dispelled. Any ideas?"

 

Twilight thought for a moment. "I...only worked with spirits once...There was one haunting Cliffton once but..." She racked her brain. "Oh gosh..."
She saw a strange crest on their metal armor. She knew that crest! They were Reslin soldiers! She knew about them!
She raised her arms as if in defeat, dropping her blade. "We surrender!" She shouted at them. Then to Gharanth, "Let them go, don't move."

 

Gharanth did as he was told. "Want to explain what's going on? I rarely surrender, and certainly not to ghosts!"

 

"Just trust me...don't...move..."
The ghosts slowed, drifting around them, faces inches away, weaponds drawn.
"We...surrender..." Twilight whispered, her breath visible in front of her face, reminding her of the cold.
One of the warriors drew back his sword, aiming it at her. He lundges forward and Twilight closed her eyes. He charged straight through her, not hurting her at all, and disappeared. The other ghosts vanishing behind it.
Twilight drew in a sharp breath, realizing she'd been holding it.

 

"So what was all that about? I'm sorry but I have no idea what all that was about. I have been a warrior since I can remember and I have never experienced anything that weird."

 

"Clifton used to make me study ancient civilyzations(sp?) and things like that. Those were Reslin soldiers...or used to be. They were actually one of the most honorable soldiers of their time. They did kill though, and were tought that the ends justify the means. They slaughtered all enemies, but left living only those who surrendered to them truely and completely..."
Twilight blushed, realizing she knew more about ghosts than her likings. "They were...testing our knowledge perhaps?"

 

"They will test us in many ways, not just physical. I would love to know what else is in store for us. The tests must all be things that they control. This is a very elaborate exam centre."

 

"I wonder how they have controlled the spirits. It's no easy thing to do."

 

"This is a very strong and ancient magic. If we can work it out, we can control it and turn the tables in our favour."

 

Twilight thought of the many things they could do with such magic. To change the world for the better...
She looked ahead, wondering how much farther it would be. and what it would look like when they got there.

 

"The big spiders are ahead, but I don't think we fight them. I think that this is a test of courage and nerve. Stay close and don't look at them. Look directly ahead and don't falter. If you do they will sense you as weak and attack. Do you want to hold my hand."

 

Twilight smiled, taking his hand immediatly. "What kind of question was that?" She asked, giving his hand a squeeze.

 

"well I thought I should ask. It would be a shame not to have manners, even in a situation like this."
