Demons and Heroes

"What kinda questions?" Twilight asked.

 

"Anything you want to know about me, good or bad. I will answer honestly."

 

"Okay...um...do you have any brothers or sisters?"

 

"I have two sisters, though I doubt they will ever acknowledge me. I'm the black sheep of the family now. They are both older than me and are called Kerenne and Siermahn.

 

"Beautiful names...where are they right now? Do you know?"

 

"Well Kerenne married an influential demon lord and Siermahn stayed at home and is currently the dutiful younger daughter I believe. I haven't seen them for years so I can't be sure."

 

Twilight nodded. "Do you miss them?"

 

"Not really. We were very different and they never understood me. They are most unpleasant and would probably try to kill me anyway."

 

"That's not right." Twilight frowned. "Family should take care of you...watch out for you..."

 

"Well I must admit that mine is not a nice family. They take pride in their cruelty. One day I will probably face them as an enemy."

 

Twilight didn't like the thought of Gharath fighting his family, even if they were aweful people. She had always thought families were alike, always loving and kind to each other. This was something completely different.

 

Gharanth smiled sadly. "I wish my family was more ideal but it seems that I am fated not to get on with them. Hopefully I'll never meet them again."

 

"Maybe somday you will...maybe time has changed them. Anyone can change when given the chance. I pity those who are given no chance."

 

"Its just knowing them I can't see them changing. I think they want to be evil and enjoy inflicting pain."

 

Twilight nodded. "have you ever seen anyone change? I mean...really change?"

 

"Well you know one person - me. I was once like them, but now I abhor everything they stand for. Oppressing the weak is nothing to be proud of and I'm ashamed that I once did it as well."

 

Twilight smiled. "What about your parents? Were they...like your siblings?"

 

"Sadly they are all the same, and for generations back. I wish I was born into a better family that cared for others. I suppose I don't have a family now really."

 

Twilight shook her head, squeezing his hand. "I'm your family now."

 

"Then I have a perfect family. It could not be better. I have the best family in the world now."
