Demons and Heroes

Twilight saw a spark in Gharanth's eye that she hadn't seen before but didn't prod him about it. If he was happy, she was too.

 

The wind began to pick up and Gharanth wrapped his cloak around Twilight. "I think that the weather had turned against us. I will pitch camp and you can stay warm in the tent while I sort out something to eat. I fear that this adverse weather has a most unnatural source, as if someone is trying to keep is away for this elemental warrior legend. Maybe Aldon is testing us again. I really think he has an ego problem."

 

Twilight shivered. Gharanth was right. The weather had changed so suddenly and seemed to be getting worse and worse by the second. Perhaps they should stop. She looked at Gharanth's cloak, draped over her shoulders.
"What about you? It will be cold."

 

"I'm a fire demon, I generate my own heat. I am more worried about you. The temperature is dropping rapidly. I suggest that you stay warm and I'll make life as warm for you as possible. Pity there are no caves nearby. I'm sure we will think of something. The trees might be a start as they offer some shelter from the wind and cold." Gharanth had begun to pitch the larger tent and was collecting wood for a fire.

 

Twilight huddled up against a tree, letting it block most of the bighting wind. "Do you want me to help with anything?" She asked, keeping her jaw clentched so he wouldn't see her teeth chattering; Gharanth had enough to worry about.

 

"Come here, you are frozen." Gharanth smiled and used the power of the wind orb to create an eye in the storm. The wind dropped and he lit a fire. Kissing her forehead he sat down beside her and let her cuddle against him for warmth. He began to cook a soup in a small pot, enough for the two of them. Digging deep in his bag he brought out a pouch of herbs and some dried meat. "This will help you get warm."

 

Twilight was much warmer next to Gharanth. She burried her cold face into his shoulder, rubbing her hands together.

 

Gharanth wrapped his huge arms around her and drew Twilight against him, sharing his body heat. He knew that she would freeze here alone as this was unnaturally cold. He generated his own heat so she would be safe with him. "Tonight we stay together."

 

Twilight nodded against him, not daring to open her mouth as her lips felt solid as ice.

ooc: My friend is over so i can't stay. I'll be on tomorrow afternoon though and maybe 3:00 am.

 

Gharanth hugged her and heated his body up slightly higher than usual to keep her warm. There were advantages to being a fire demon. Gently wrapping her in his blankets and cloak he lay down and drew her against him for warmth. She would be safe and warm in the tent with him. He would protect her.

Twilight was comfortable next to Gharanth, eventually closing her eyes and falling into a shallow sleep. She was warm, safe, and with Gharanth. What could possible go wrong?

 

Gharanth held he and dozed on and off. He was not really tired but he knew that he needed all the strength he had to protect her. The inside of the tent was warm and Twilight was secure in his arms. He smiled at that thought.

 

Twilight's hand tightened into a fist against Gharanth's chest as she dreamed. It wasn't often that she went dreamless, in fact she couldn't remember one day that she had slept peacefully. She clutched Gharanth's arm tightly, teeth clenched.

 

Gharanth stroked her hair. "Its alright my darling. I am here to protect you." He gently cuddled her and made sure she was safe.

 

Twilight sighed in her sleep, her hand uncurling from it's tight fist. Even in sleep, Gharanth's words soothed her, making her dreams less frightening.

 

Gharanth lay cradling her in his arms. He was the happiest that he had been in a long time. This was his idea of bliss, no fighting, no hate, just the two of them together and him being able to look after her.

 

Morning came too soon for Twilight and she was awake when the first signs of light shone through the tent flap. She yawned, streatching a little in Gharanth's arms.

 

"Good morning sleepy! You were warm last night I hope. I will cook you breakfast while the weather is fine. It seems the storm has passed." He made no attempt to let her go.

 

Twilight smiled at him, rubbing her eyes and running her fingers through her long hair. "How long have you been awake?" She asked quietly, blinking away her sleep.

 

"Most of the night. You had a bad dream so I soothed you with gentle words. You are very beautiful when you sleep." Gharanth smiled and cuddled her. "This will be a better day I feel."
