Demons and Heroes

"You are a beautiful woman and a lady at that. People should treat you with respect. You are with a demon lord now and I will make sure that you are shown the kindest of treatment. No one will ever look down on you ever again."

 

Twilight nodded. "I trust you with my life and soul, Gharanth. But please, if that man had been stronger...what if he'd lashed back at you?"

 

"I know his kind of old. You should never worry. I've yet to get into a fight I can't win."

Gharanth kissed her forehead gently.

"Besides, I heal naturally. I am one tough demon now."

He handed her the two pouches that he had prepared earlier.

"These are for you. The red one contains ten vials of natural healing potion and the blue one contains ten vials of anti-toxin."

 

Twilight looked up at him, eyes gleaming thankfully. "I must be the luckiest girl in the world to be with such a man." She said, slipping the pouches into her small, brown sack.

 

"I'm nothing special, just a demon who has done wrong in the past. I am the lucky one to have found such a guiding light in my darkness. You outshine all the stars in their majesty and even the moon pales beside you."

 

Twilight blushed. "You are too kind."

 

"I speak only the truth as I see it. I have met many supposed beauties in my life for the courts of kings to exotic shores, but none of them can hold a candle to your beauty. It is a mixture of physical beauty and a beautiful soul. I am in awe in your presence, unworthy to look at you, like a man blinded by staring too much at the sun."

 

Twilight's heart was pounding painfully hard. He seemed to always know the words to make her melt in his presence. "I'm just a pesant girl who happend upon a handsom knight in shining armor."

 

"I'm hardly a knight though I would gladly be your champion. You are my lady and I hold you above all others. Nothing can ever come close to your presence and worth in my eyes. You are the sun and I the sunflower, following you forever, gazing up at your brilliance from my lowly position in the dirt."

 

Twilight's face burned red and she put her palm against his. "But I the sun only look down at you and wish I could be as wonderful as you are." She stood up on her toes to kiss him.

 

"You could never be lower than me, alway above for me to look up to. You are the reason I exist, the air that I breathe. I was put here to serve you and to make you happy, nothing more, nothing less. With this I ask for your patronage."

Gharanth bowed and knelt before her with his head bowed and hands held up in a pleading manner.

"I am you humble servant always."

 

"Food and water." he said.

 

"And I yours, My love. Always and forever. With all my heart." She vaguely(sp?) remembered the water orb they were supposed to be practicing with and she giggled. "Gharanth, why is it I can't think clearly around you?" She laughed again.

 

"The same reason I can't think clearly around you - love. The practice arena is just ahead. Ready to show off your abilities."

 

"Always." She smiled.

Gharanth nodded and opened the great heavy doors for her. He would be there in case she needed him. They could always work together. He wanted to do everything with her and show her all the wondrous sites and exotic places.

 

"great idea," she said smiling.
"The river is full of fish, and fresh water," she said thinking aloud.

 

"I'll get the fish if you get the water."

 

Gharanth smiled and decided to practice his powers as well. Fire was his natural element and he felt totally at ease with this. He would practice with wind and darkness. Once these were at full power he had only nature to tame. There would be no turning back and with Twilight mastering water he would need all his wits to keep them both perfectly safe.

 

"Okay," she said. She smiled and walked over to a tree.
"I'll need to make a container though. I'll make one for the fish and water," She said.
