Demons and Heroes

"Want me to carry you up the mountain? I can if you want. It's very steep and the terrain is uneven. I would hate for you to slip."

 

Twilight shook her head. "I will manage, Gharanth." She gave his hand a squeeze and stepped up onto the rocky slope.

 

Gharanth followed behind her so that he could catch her if she fell. He could not bear the thought of anything happening to her. He kept up at an easy pace. He would not force her to go any faster.

 

"This man, Aldon. How strong is he?" Twilight turned the conversation towards what awaited them at the top of the climb.

 

"Strong enough, though he didn't want to fight me at full strength. I think I can beat him if I need to though I'd rather not fight him unless I have to."

Gharanth smiled at her.

"Don't worry, we can beat him."

 

Twilight nodded, testing the loose stones under a foot as she walked. "If he is too much a challenge, please do not fight him." Twilight stared up from the ground, losing her focus. "I don't want you hurting yourself over something I saw in a dream."

 

"What did you see? Please tell me about your dream and I will try to make it come true if it is good, or prevent it if it is bad. I won't let you worry."

 

Aldon:
*in middle of the battle*

Aldon was making water very sharp and sending it toward the stranger, but the stranger kept bouncing the water away. This was getting Aldon mad, Aldon then reformed his sword.

??????:
Is that all you have?

Aldon:
No, let's see if you like one of my 3 devastating attacks of water!

*Aldon puts his sword away*
*he concentrates a mass of water in his hand*

Water Blast!!!

*a huge blast of water comes from Aldon's fist*

??????:
What?!

*gets hit and backs off*


Aldon:
*takes his chances and rushes for the lightning orb, as Aldon was close, the mysterious stranger appeared right by Aldon*
*the stranger hit Aldon with a sharp jab in the stomach and sent him flying down off the cloud*


??????:
So that was the elemental warrior.....if he had a couple more orbs, I would be in trouble, now to take my prize.

*grabs the lightning orb*

*he teleports away*


Aldon:
*as Aldon was falling, the water orb fell out of his grasp*
*the water orb and Aldon landed on a cliff right above Gharanth and Twilight*
*Aldon was badly hurt*

Aldon2:
*Dark Aldon fades in right by Aldon*

Sense your out of the picture for now and an orb is laying out exposed, I guess I'll take it.....

*starts reaching for the water orb*

 

Twilight shuddered as she saw Aldon's body land before them. She stepped forward warily and reached out, rolling Aldon onto his back so she could see his face.

 

"Is he dead? He fell quite a way. From that I assume that he has lost the lightning orb, probably to the person he was fighting."

 

Twilight shook her head. "He is alive but only just." She touched his forehead with the tips of her fingers and examined a cut on his face. "Help me Gharanth. We mustn't leave him this way."

 

"I will use the nature powers to ease the pain and heal his wounds. I don't trust him though as I've faced him before. He is sly and untrustworthy, remember that. I think he will steal from us given half a chance."

Gharanth dropped a sap like liquid between his lips and used tendrils to seal the wounds.

 

"How strange..." Twilight examined Aldon's face, her brow creasing in confusion. "I don't think this was the man in my dream. The man in my dream had this evil glint in his eye and a twisting grin. This man is..." She bit her lip, looking up at Gharanth. "I think there is someone else looking for power. Someone besides Aldon." Her eyes pinched a little. "Someone worse than even him."

 

"It won't harm you. I will fight it with every breath in my body. You will not suffer at the hands of this monster. In the meantime what shall we do with this burden? We can't leave him here."

 

"I guess we make camp and stay with him till he wakes." Twilight sighed, looking the rest of the way up the cliff at the clouds above. "Maybe he can tell us who did this to him. That may give us some info on who is after the orbs."

 

Gharanth pointed to a plateau just up from them. "That would be the best place to camp. I'll carry him up there."

He marched up and put Aldon down. Unpacking the tents he put Twilight's ready and put Aldon in his tent. He then lit a fire and cooked a nourishing soup. "It is best if you rest tonight. I will keep watch as I can go for days without sleep."

 

Twilight came to sit next to him instead of heading for her tent. "I can keep watch if you like. You look tired." She traced the dark circles under his eyes. "You need your strength."

 

"You head to your tent to rest. If you like you can join me on guard later in the morning. I will be fine here as I have slept outside without a tent many times."

Gharanth smiled,. "I always have those dark circles, they are part of me."

 

She grinned back. "They do not show when you smile." She sighed and leaned her head against him in the creaping evening. Her eyes traveled to Gharanth's tent where Aldon lay.
"Whoever did this to Aldon was looking for orbs." She said finally. "They will be after you."

 

Aldon2:
*appears right by Aldon*

That was close you fool!

*gazing at the water orb in his hand*

Finally an orb!

*starts sneaking away from the camp with the water orb in hand*
