Demons and Heroes

Twilight's heart picked up speed at Gharanth's kiss and she shuttered happily. Laying her head against him.
She saw a burning city as she took his hand, his nightmarish memories cutting through him and into her mind. She winced slightly but kept her hand in his anyways.

 

Gharanth felt her flinch. "Tell me what is bothering you. I will help if I can. You must tell me or I will never be able to make it stop for you. You sense my past, don't you? You said that you feel the pain of others. What do you see and I will tell you about it."

 

"A...city..." She whispered, closing her eyes tightly. "But...it's in ruins...burning..." She squeezed his hand tighter, the feeling comforting her.

 

"I......I'm so sorry you had to see that. In my darkest despair I was a monster who slaughtered without mercy and without any exceptions. I now hate what I was and can never forgive myself. I will burn in the lowest hell for all eternity and that hell will be of my own making. They were peaceful folk but they would not bow to my tyranny. I am not worthy to live."

Gharanth bowed his head and wept for the innocent lives as he had done many times previously.

 

"Oh Gharanth." Twilight brushed the tears from his face, pushing his memories out of her head so she could focuse. "You are not going to Hell. Even if i have to drag you by myself up from the flames. I will stay with you forever." She leaned in so her lips just barely touched his, brushing his lips as she spoke. "And you are more worthy to live than anyone i've ever known. I was lost before i met you. Are you aware of that?"

 

"In what way? I can never believe that one as beautiful and gentle as you was so lost to darkness. I will protect you and never let you be harmed by the monsters that resemble what I once was. You are far too good to be harmed by them."

He drew her close to him. shaking slightly as he was nervous that she would run into the storm and that he would lose her.

 

"Not lost to darkness, my friend, but to fear. I was alone. I was scarred and torn to hopelessness by the thoughts of my past. I couldn't remember most of my life and I didn't know if I would remember the next day or if I would remember my life at all." She leaned into him. "And then i saw you, and i felt so much pain comming from you. I felt like i'd met someone I could help and live for. And although I still wonder if I will remember this day, or if it will vanish like the rest of my memories, I do not feel alone."

 

"Whether you remember or not doesn't matter. I will be here to protect you and you will never be helpless and you never have. I dedicate my life to you and your happiness. The mountains may crumble and the seas dry up but my love for you will be eternal. You are my only reason for living."

 

Aldon:
*enters the main temple area*
*Aldon sees the orb in plain view*

So there you are.....

*looks around*

Where did that stranger go?
Oh well, now to find out why there is no guardian.....

*picks up a temple and tosses it toward the orb, nothing happened*

There has to be some catch.

*Aldon goes by the orb and nothing happens

Maybe when I move it.........

*Aldon picks up the orb*
*a popping noise comes from outside*
*Aldon's face turns pail*

That must mean I just popped the bubble protecting this place........

*water starts rushing in*

I wonder why he doesn't just teleport now or use the orb............(damn he is stupid sometimes.....>.>)

 

"Gharanth. I want to remember more than anything, but if I don't, will you please stay with me? Will you help me remember?" She wiped her eyes on the back of her hand, "I want to love you forever Gharanth. Even if I don't remember. I want to be with you forever."
She burried her face in the side of his neck, eyes damp.

 

"I will always be here for you, even if you forget everything. Even if you forget me. There is no reason that you should ever feel scared and neglected again. I keep my word, that is the one true constant about me. I would die rather than leave you alone."

 

Twilight held him as tight as she could. "I was afraid you'd leave me if I didn't remember. I was afraid you'd..." She let a few tears fall, watching them land lightly on his shoulder. "I dunno where i'd be right now without you."

 

"I will never leave you and you mustn't worry. I love you and that is all that matters. I will get you the lightening orb and you will have power of your own. Then no one can hurt you."

Twilight nodded, eyes drooping tiredly. She curled up in his arms and closed her eyes.

 

Aldon:
That was close!

*walks up on the beach with water orb in hand*

Now it's time to get the lightning orb.

*points his sword*
*the sword starts detecting for the orb*
*the sword points toward a mountain top with dark clouds around it*

So the orb must be up there........
I need to get it before someone else gets it!

*starts running toward the mountain*

Now starts the race for the lightning orb.

 

Gharanth fell asleep cradling Twilight. He had not thought about anything but her since they had met. She soothed his soul and had begun to heal the emotional wounds. He didn't care if she forgot him, he would be there if she fell and would always support her.

 

Aldon:
*at the mountain's summit*

I see a cave, maybe it's a shortcut to the top!

*goes in, but sees Gharanth and Twilight*

Ummm......I guess I went the wrong way.......

*runs out of the cave and starts climbing*

 

Twilight gasped suddenly, lurching up from sleep. Someone had been in the cave. Someone besides them. Her heart pounded as she scanned the cave for signs that they were still here.
Nothing.
"Gharanth!" She grabbed his arm, trying to wake him. "Gharanth. We must leave!"

 

Gharanth woke and drew his sword. "I will protect you. Let's move and we'll eat on the way. It's safer if we are being followed. I'll carry everything. We need speed."
He picked up their bags and swept them onto his shoulder. It seemed that someone was trying to ruin their happiness.

 

Twilight grabbed her bag and slung it over her shoulder, rushing to the mouth of the cave and looking uphill at their path. She took a breath and nodded.
"Let's go."
