I have Windows Vista. (Of course I'd mess the laptop up due to a Vista feature the week before my Windows 7 is supposed to come)

So I was downloading some files (Not completely sure if it's legal or not, so I won't say what), and I accidentally downloaded some bad file. The good thing is, I know what the bad file is, and I've had experience with this situation before, I just have to empty the recycle bin and make sure I clear all traces of that file. Again, it's a good thing I know what the file is, right?
Well, my Laptop (gateway) got the blue error screen because of the file before I got a chance to delete it. So I went into Safe Mode and it was running alright.
Went to Empty the Recycle Bin and instead of clicking "Empty the Recycle Bin," I clicked "Delete"!
Why the hell does Vista even have an option for deleting the Recycle Bin?!
Well, fortunately, there's an easy way to get the Recycle Bin (Control Panel -> Personalization -> Customize Desktop Icons) From there just check Recycle Bin and click OK/Apply.

For some reason, in Safe Mode, this doesn't work. The window closes, like it worked, but the Bin doesn't pop back up.
In Normal Mode, it works, but I can't get to the bin in type to Empty it before it Blue Screens again. (I usually click Empty and before I can confirm, ****in' blue screen)
I tried to run \$Recycle.Bin but it says it's empty, however in normal mode, when the Bin pops back up, it's the full icon.

Is there a different way I can get the Recycle Bin to pop back up in Safe Mode?

You could do a virus scan, get rid of the virus, go back to normal mode and do so.

Can't get to Normal Mode without it Blue Screening.
Ran Webroot Spy Sweeper a few times both in Safe Mode and Normal Mode, along with Windows Defender. As I said, I have to manually delete it and then Empty the Bin and make sure the files are gone.
But it's not really a virus so the scans don't detect it.
If I'm right, It's .flv files.
EDIT: I'm running it on Safe Mode with Networking right now and running another scan, but I doubt anything will change

I managed to get the Recycling Bin back and emptied, and it turns out...It's still blue screening on me.
It happens shortly after the laptop finishes loading, after the welcome screen and all that up until the desktop and icons finish loading. In other words, I have no time to do anything. My scans still aren't giving me results, but I wrote the what blue error screen says:

Anyone know how I can find out what that means?
It'll be a couple days before I can get professional help...

There was a function which allowed you to restore the Recycle Bin, I did it in Vista as well, but there was no virus - I accidently deleted it :(

I'll look for it, and post back.

Computer's working fine now, but it still blue screens. I figured it was the same reason, so I deleted the files in Safe Mode, and then it blue screened when I tried normal mode. After several restarts, I finally got it working for a couple of days, but I just figured something out. Everytime I delete something, right when I empty the recycle bin, it crashes and I get the same blue error screen.
It takes many trial and errors (start in safe mode, delete the files I planned on deleting, empty the bin, go to normal mode, it crashes, restart in "Last Known Good Configuration (advance)", it crashes, back in safe mode, then back to normal, then back to last known, over and over until it works.

What could make it crash everytime I delete something or empty the Recycle Bin?

Since your computer BSODs (Blue Screen Of Death) Do this instead of sending it to the recycle bin...

To delete files bypassing the recycle bin hold shift and press delete on the file you want rid of. This should also get rid of any traces of the file for privacy...

    I have your sulution

I don't know if its on vista but i know its on XP

In normle mode go to start/Accsesories/System tools/Restore/

Click "restore my computer to a previouse date" Then you'll see a calender pick a date right before you got the file hit next then hit yes or whatever and then what the computer does is return to the state it was on that date

So it should get rid of your bad file and stop the BSOD's

True but Windows deletes them ever so often... That may not entirely solve the problem... BTW it doesn't affect your personal files...
