I challenge you to a duel. Not really sure why, I just feel like dueling. You may choose a weapon from a list of three items set by me. In turn you get to choose a list of three items that I may choose from. I'll be generous since I initiated this battle.
    • Lightsaber
    • Magic Wand
    • Sonic Screwdriver
Let the battle of the ages commence thusly!

Why choose when you can combine them into one?

Because this isn't that type of duel. That kind involves blue eyed dragons and mammoth graveyards.

No, actually. I just felt like picking a fight I can't win because I'm optimistic like that >:3

Naive would be thinking there was no way I could lose. Optimism is hoping for the best.

I love that you're paying attention to my posts, it makes me ever so happy. However, I fail to see your point.

As I said, naive would be thinking there was no way I could lose. Optimism is hoping for the best.

OKAY SO I REALIZE THIS IS MEANT TO BE A LIGHTHEARTED THREAD but I am decidedly non-violent & have a lot of emotions so IMMA START SOME REAL TALK HERE ( i also have been gripped throughout my life by the quandary of do I want to be a Jedi or a wizard or a Keyblade master or a Pokemon trainer or a Time Lord so I cannot answer this like a normal human )

Now obviously if we were going to have a real fight the lightsaber is definitely the most direct & efficient "weapon" of the group. However, the beauty (and my fascination) with Jedi, the Sonic Screwdriver, and the magic wand (as used by Harry Potter) is that they're really not "weapons" at all. My favorite Jedi classes are the Counselor and the Sentinel because they are primarily the defensive side (the Counselor endeavoring to avoid combat altogether); I love the Sonic Screwdriver because it really can't be used to attack anyone, is even a laughable weapon for someone like the Doctor to carry around, who finds himself in some really dangerous situations; Harry's trademark spell, Expelliarmus, is used to disarm one's opponent--not to attack, or even counter (though it works out that way against Voldemort), but to simply prevent your opponent from attacking.

And that's what I really like about the three options, and why I could never choose one for a duel. Or even really be in a duel itself. I love characters who choose not to attack, who try to make the "evil" characters see reason & come back to the "good" side, who always try to do the right thing. Good/evil & right/wrong is an interesting dichotomy to explore, and likewise exploring the difficulty in being that pacifistic is fascinating (The Waters of Mars is one of my favorite Doctor Who episodes), so I don't mean to say that I only like those perfect stories, but that function at the crux is just sakjdhkdjhqwuh.

    so my response is

dueling is silly, let's eat some mac & cheese and talk about STORIES and CHARACTERS and ETHICS

well personally i would have gone with the lightsaber despite the fact that i don't care for star wars, because out of the three it has the most kill-tential.

BUT YOUR OPTION IS GOOD TOO. MAC N CHEESE IS GREAT.

You defeated me without using violence. You Misty are a true jedi wizard from Gallifrey. Terrific response!

I would've just chose the wand, used Accio on the Lightsaber and Sonic Screwdriver then left because they'd go for a fortune on eBay (like I'd sell them >.<).

Mac & Cheese is always an option that most people don't know about. It's also a very good one. So let's do these talks of Stories and Characters and Ethics of which you speak.

Which one, the first or the second? Both were kind of destroyed so ... is there a third one?
