Dear everyone hyping up Big Hero 6 so much:

Remember what happened with Frozen?

I was about to say, it's Frozen 2.0. Expect gifs. Expect too many gifs.

 

Probably not, actually. Part of the reason Frozen is SO EXTREMELY POPULAR is because Princesses.

It's really not. Frozen and Big Hero 6 aren't even the same genre.

Also, Big Hero 6 has ZERO romance subplot. Not even a whif.

 

It looks cute. I'm not really going to hype it that much.

There's already gifs and it's not even out yet.

Not in the way Princesses are, no. Marvel superheros are enormously popular, yes, but the popularity of Frozen has overtaken everything in a way that none of the marvel movies have. I get kids at work, boys and girls, asking every day for drawings of Elsa, Ariel, Rapunzel, but I've yet to have anyone ask me for Thor or Hawkeye. There're kids who bring in both Elsa and Thor dolls, but invariably Thor ends up sitting on the table while they build castles out of legos for Elsa to sit on.

What I'm saying is not that superheros aren't extremely popular right now, but that Frozen and the like are MORE popular.

 

I blame it on tumblr. Tumblr over hypes the crap out of everything.

But it can provide some quality entertainment sometimes.

Like with all the reactions to South Park's episode The Cissy. Many good laughs were had.

 

I will say this about Big Hero 6, it's a pretty flawed movie imo. Curb your expectations and all that.
I really enjoyed it though. I think I've weirdly come to like it even more in retrospect.

I don't think it will reach the ridonk popularity of Frozen; I guess it's possible but I really feel like Frozen just had this perfect storm of Let it Go + impressionable kids or whatever.

 

And don't forget the crazy weather too. I know that it sounds unrelated, but you'll be surprised how the most random thing can help or hinder a film's success.

 

Yeah, I don't think it will be equally as popular as Frozen. I think, and also think this is what Haya was suggesting, is that even if it's not on the level of Frozen, it can still be incredibly overbearing, and that being inundated with memes and gifs can harm something regardless of how popular it is.

 

Until idlecom draws porn of it, it's not as big as Frozen

 

Thanks Haya. This is officially the most hype I have seen for this movie and it is all your fault.

 

In a similar vein, kin-experiences is one of my favorite blogs at the moment.

 

Here's the thing: Frozen had a crap plot and bland characters. Its only strong traits were the soundtrack and animation. Big Hero 6 has way more charm, genuine humor, and a plot with a relatively decent bit of depth all things considered.

 

Does it count if I have a workable pitch for the inevitable Big Hero Sex?
