Jesse knew what KF meant though. So even Robin wasn't resting after Batman's death, but why wouldn't he want KF to help? Grief? Sorrow? Or something totally different from those things. What ever the case was, she could tell her former peer wasn't too happy about it- she could have a little compassion on him. "I know what you mean," Jesse said, finally smiling softly and slightly in sympathy. "Happened to me all the time before any of this happened and even now." What she meant was the death of her father, but also the alien invasion. They didn't want her there either, but she showed up to help before she was shooed away by one of the bigger heroes.

Now look what happened to them. And now Jesse was in the habit of staying out of the big heroes way, now gone.

"They didn't want me, they wanted the Kid Flash." Jesse wasn't harsh in her words, in fact, she was keeping a smile up. "S'cool though, you have a bit of a better flare than Jesse Quick anyways. And about ditching you, mmm... I think I've done it enough lately. Time to take a break, wouldn't you say?" It was time to start setting their differences aside, everyone was gone. They needed to step it up a notch.

The door opened slightly, pausing for a short moment before it opened all the way. Lorena was standing there in an ocean blue tank top and some black cargo pants. She still wore her worn track shoes, almost as if she was ready for anything, her hair tied back in a ponytail.

Lorena looked over Virgil with a raised eyebrow, having a feeling she knew him from somewhere, but she just couldn't figure out where. She raised a finger in the air, rotating it in a circle as she was seemingly trying to remember his name. Then she remembered that she really didn't know his name and gave up, resting her weight on one hip and placing her hand there. "I guess you know Static then?" she inquired, keeping her tough girl look about her for right now.

"You'll never be Batman!" Red Robin yelled as he dove to the side, the sound of gunshots hitting the wall behind him ringing in his ear. "You'll never be him!" He fired a Batarang at Red Hood, but it was blown away in an instant. But in that same instant, his battle staff was back in his hands: one end in his hands, the other directly under Red Hood's chin. He had whacked away one of Red Hood's guns, using his Batarang as a decoy, and now he was ready to cut Hood's throat using the hidden knife in his battle staff...if it wasn't for the Red Hood's other gun pointed at his chest. "You'll never be Bruce," he whispered, low enough that only Hood could hear.
Red Hood's expression was unreadable beneath his mask, but the white lens around his eyes narrowed. "You're good, I'll give you that," he admitted, dropping his left arm to his side, inserting his gun into a holster. "But you're not as smart as they crack you up to be, you know?" He took a step back slowly, not wanting to risk getting his throat cut. He knew it wouldn't happen, the kevlar on his fullbody suit was made to protect against cuts and bullet shots. But he didn't want to risk it. He was physically stronger than his younger adoptive brother, he knew that. Just like Batman had once traveled the world to learn martial arts from different masters, Red Hood had done the same after his 'resurrection,' but he focused on deadly martial arts. With what Batman taught him, he always thought that meant that he could do more than the Dark Knight, but Batman had always beat him in hand-to-hand combat. While he was not the Dark Knight's equal, he was pretty damn close, and he wasn't afraid to kill. He could take on Nightwing easily, and he enjoyed the times they've tried to kill each other. And he always knew he could beat Robin (Tim) easily, and has in fact done it...but that was long ago. Since then, he's heard that, as Robin, Tim traveled the world learning martial arts from masters who taught Batman and others, including some very deadly forms of martial arts. If Red Hood focused on a deadly style of fighting, and Batman focused on a non-lethal but overpowering style, Red Robin focused on both and then some. A year ago, Tim would never have been able to knock Jason's gun out of his hand and threaten him like this. Best not to tempt him. "It's not hard to figure out. Batman's not hear to scare the bad guys any more. Gotham needs a Batman. I know it. You know it. And they know it!" He pointed outside, referring to the city. "If neither of us takes his place, then someone else will! Are you willing to risk it? We're the only ones with the right to wear the cape and cowl. But it's too late for you, bro," he said it with disdain, but there was a smile under his helmet. "You already came out as Red Robin. You're already putting a team of little goody-two-shoes together. You can't turn back. Besides, we need a Batman, not a Batboy." He was now by the window. "Gotham will be mine."

"I would say that! Wait right there," Kid Flash grinned. He ran around the corner of the street and into a burger joint's restroom. While he normally would have changed at a much faster pace, he needed a second to think about what Jesse had said. He'd never given thought to her place in all this; it had always been about him. He was always the one speeding to the Flash's side and getting the credit for all the fun stuff. When did Jesse ever get a chance in the spot light? Maybe now was a chance to share the attention he'd hogged. With comfortable jeans, tennis shoes, a dark red t-shirt covered by an unbuttoned, light blue, long sleeved shirt on now, he stuffed his goggles into his pocket and headed out of the fast food place. He was tempted to buy something quickly because his stomach was starting to growl but he decided to hold off until his meal with Jesse. When he got a clean opportunity outside he sped back to Jesse. "Did ya time me?"

Terra flinched a step backward, getting shivers from the Red Hood. He and Red Robin were neck-and-neck in skills from her point of view. The few civilians that were stupid enough to stay with her on the sidewalk near the bank were now gone or leaving. But Terra stayed; she wanted to see exactly how this would end. It was a fight for territory from what she heard. Both Red Robin and the Red Hood were sure they were the right choice for Gotham but neither was willing to yield to the other.

Red Devil closed his mouth as the fire finished escaping. "Don't worry, I wasn't aiming at you!" He said as he ran forward and jumped over Blue Beetle. The Demon was shaking ferociously and, to Red Devil's surprise, shook off all of the flames. It let out a roar and jumped, flying into the air. "Damn it," the young demonic hero grumbled as he landed, barely missing the Demon. "You want to help, bug boy? Hold that thing still for me!"

Red Robin didn't move as he watched Red Hood walk over to the gun that he knocked away and pick it up. "What makes you think I'll let someone like you take wear the cowl?"
"Heh," The fact that Red Hood was smiling beneath his mask was evident, despite his smile being hidden. "Everyone always talks about how smart the new Robin is. Not smarter than Batman, but give him a few years..." he slowly walked to the window, fearlessly showing his back to Red Robin. Both guns in his holster, he reached into his brown jacket and pulled out a small ball, though it was hidden from Red Robin. "If you're really that smart, you should be able to figure it out, pigeon." He dropped the ball and it flashed, exploding in a large amount of smoke to conceal him. "You don't have a choice!"
Red Robin didn't move. He could feel his body trying to shake, he could feel his emotions trying to burst from his body, but he refused to let even tremble. He waited what seemed like years before he finally turned around and let his staff collapse. He inserted it into a compartment in his suit and rushed to White Light's unconcious body. He knelt down and started to shake Light with a single hand. "Wake up, Light. Are you alright?" As White Light started to stir, Red Robin went over the night's events in his head. Red X stole whatever he was stealing and escaped. Red Hood, now wearing Batman's symbol, threatened to become the new Batman. White Light, the tactician and sponsor to the Justice Cadets was rendered unconscious on their first mission and Red Robin, the "leader," let both villains escape. As White Light opened his eyes, only a single sentence passed through Red Robin's mind: There's too much red in Gotham.

'I bet you weren't.' Jaime thought to himself sarcastically as he watched the Demon erratically fly about. "I'll lend you a hand but you owe me!" Jaime shouted as he flew straight at the demon, aiming to tackle it. He missed just by a hair's breadth but in midair he spun as he passed the darned thing and gave it a viscous kick to hit it right back at Red Devil. "Catch!"

"I'd rather not," Red Devil growled as he reached behind him. He grabbed Lucifer's Trident, strapped to his weight by the chain he used as a belt, and pulled it to his front. "Go to Hell!" He yelled at the approaching Demon as he aimed the trident at it. The tips started to glow a dark blue and the trident started to heat up, even hotter than Red Devil's own burning skin. The Demon hit the trident and was impaled. It let out a heart-wrenching scream that made Red Devil's skin sliver. "Don't blame me for it," he growled as the Demon was suddenly enveloped by the dark blue glow before disappearing. Heh, first Demon. Not too difficult, he thought as he waited for the trident to cool down.

Red Hood smiled as he stood in the shadows. He had quickly placed himself next to the same building he just exited, but the stealth training he had, nobody would have noticed him. However, there was one person he wanted to notice him. The white that covered his eyes narrowed as he stared at a blonde in the crowd that had gathered outside of the bank. It didn't take him long to recognize her. The infamous Terra, the apprentice to Deathstroke, the Terminator. Red Hood knew all about Deathstroke; the mercenary had considered himself something of Batman's rival and attempted to...steal Batman's Robins as his own apprentice over the years. Nightwing turned him down "politely." Red Hood was even less polite and spent a month in the hospital because of it. Red Robin supposedly outsmarted Deathstroke, but was also confined to a hospital bed for it. Deathstroke instead came to an apprentice all his own: the geopath Terra, whose abilities let her take out many young heroes until a group of them convinced her she was not meant for "the dark side." A plan formulated in the anti-hero's head. Kneeling down slowly, Red Hood reached into his right boot and pulled out a small knife. He had several of them hidden on his person, including his signature dagger, but a small one was all he needed. He tossed into the air and caught it by the blade. "Here, little blondie," he silently mused as he threw the knife quickly. His aim? The ground right between her feet.

Terra folded her arms and pursed her lips. Was there something more to this than just having Gotham to himself? And who was the guy Red Robin had called "Light?" She huffed out a breath and decided to just think about it all later. Right now she was hungry; she hadn't eaten since she'd gotten in the city. But something stopped her. Terra heard the knife but stayed still, letting it land between her feet; until she saw who's hand it came from, she wouldn't use her powers. Attacking first and asking questions later was supposedly something that wasn't okay (according to those little heroes who tried to teach her what she should be doing). A soft yellow glow lit up her hands as she prepared herself for whoever was waiting for her. She could pull earth from under the concrete now and have them ready to throw or she could wait and rip the earth apart underneath whoever it was. "Attacking while hidden? What a pansy move! If you want to fight me then just come out! You might end up twenty feet underground though." She challenged.

There was not a single sense of worry in Red Hood's mind. She could move the earth? Big freaking deal. What could he do? Kill her. Simple as that. It wasn't that he wasn't afraid of her, or any other of the superpowered, it was simply that fear for her kind didn't exist inside of him. As Batman's former sidekick, he was trained to be able to take out her kind with pure intelligence and a gadget here and there. As Red Hood, he was trained to kill her kind. He simply stepped out of the shadow to raise a hand and beckoned the blonde to follow him. He didn't need a response; she either would or she wouldn't. So he stepped back into the shadows and walked away, almost invisible to the rest of the crowd.

Terra lowered her hands to her sides. Who the hell did the Red Hood think he was? He didn't even say anything to her! Does he need to say anything? She thought. Even I know who he is and I'm out of the loop nowadays. So what? He wants me to follow him? She frowned. It's not that she didn't want to go, because she was curious, but she wondered why he bothered to get her attention in the first place. Perhaps he had seen her watching him and Red Robin, maybe he knew of her reputation and he was interested in her, or it could be a trap. Without making up her mind, Terra shouldered her pack and followed the Red Hood.

Jesse didn't even look up when KF, now Wally, had shown up. She was looking down at her wrist, watching the little second hand on her watch tick and tick. "Mmm... about a minute and twenty three seconds. Not bad." Jesse looked up at KF, smiling slightly as she let her hand drop to the side. "So, where do you want to go?" This felt awkward in a way, because Jesse always kept her distance from Wally. But now? She was being somewhat open to him. Life changing situations called for a change in plans though.

Red Hood walked through shadows slowly, relying on all of his stealth training. Did he want Terra to follow him? Of course. Was he going to make it easy for her? Hell no. He looked back, making sure she was still there, as he entered a dark alley. Up ahead, a brick wall. To his left and right, fire escapes. Beneath the red of his helmet, he grinned. "Well, then, let's see what you can do, blondy," he said to himself as he turned and waited for Terra to catch up.

A scowl sharp enough to cut Batman's wire was on his face, but Red Robin was hidden from the public eye. After White Light and he had exited, they were bombarded by press and police. Red Robin decided he would let White Light, the "face" of the Justice Cadets handle them after he debriefed him (Though he left out his conversation with Red Hood). Now, Red Robin simply watched from a rooftop, playing over the night's event. Bruce's and Dick's funeral, interrupted by a bank robbery. The bank robbery, successful by Red X. Red X's escape, assisted by Red Hood. Red Hood's beat down of White Light and his escape, assisted by Red Robin's uselessness. "No more," Red Robin whispered as he stood up straight, "No more mourning." He decided it as he spread his wings. First things first: He had to pick up something from Wayne Enterprises. Then, he had work to do at the Batcave. "I'll mourn later, Bruce...I just can't waste that time," he said, sadly, as he jumped from the roof. His wings spread, just as his old cape did, and there was a quick stream of flame from his boots. His right hand aimed forward and he shot his grappling hook just as his boots turned off.

"Coffee shop?" Wally suggested, rubbing the back of his head. He didn't really know what he was doing. He'd never really spent much time with Jesse anyway so he didn't know what she liked. But girls liked coffee shops, right? It was a safe bet.

    -------

Terra stopped a safe distance away from the Red Hood. She noticed the dead-end and the two fire-escapes. Getting away was an option -- she could climb either of the fire-escapes or raise the earth -- but then, what was the point of coming?
"Alright," the yellow glow returned to her hands and she widened her stance. "What was up with that knife back there?"
