Kaia looked around and grabbed her sword. "Who's there?"

 

Hearing movement on the roof, Maiko got up and stood protectively over Koza. "Where are you? Show yourself." She was not going to let any would be assassin attack Koza.

 

Kaia jumped down from the roof to fight, but saw Maiko. "Oh, it's you."

 

"Why are you sneaking around on the roof? If you are trying to hurt Koza I will protect him. I'm not scared of you." She stood with her staff ready in front of her.

 

"I'm not sneaking around on the roof, I'll be sleeping on the roof," she said. "Don't worry, I won't hurt Koza. Once I go through the trail of the hunter, I'll go after other bounties."

 

"He's my brother so I will protect him whatever the cost. I will never let him come to harm. There is something special about him, a sadness that I want to help remove, a stain on his soul that I will wash away with company and love."

 

"If you two are brother/sister, then I'll protect both of you. But hide him or something when we get to my village, cause a lot of other different hunters will be after him."

 

Koza raised up.

"What's all the noise out there?"

 

"Sorry, your sister thought I was going to attack you, cause she heard me on the roof. I'll be sleeping up there." Kaia walked back up to the roof.

 

Koza laid back down and fell asleep again.

 

Kaia laid on the roof, staring at the stars. Sighing, she started to sing.

 

Koza, being the light sleeper that he was, woke up and started to practice with his sword.

 

Kaia fell asleep, and her bag, seemly, appeared at her side. 'Father, Yuki......' She woke up and watched Koza.

 

Koza sheathed his blade and went to get a drink from the nearby river.

 

Kaia sighed. 'He's good......' She jumped down from the roof and put her bag down. "Hey....."

 

"Yeah, what is it?"

 

"Nothing much. I just have the Trail of the Hunter on my mind."

 

"Some sort of ritual your clan must go through?"

 

"Well, when a member of my clan turns 16, they have to go through a ritual of something they feared or couldn't accept. After they go through the ritual, the elder will paint a dragon on each arm, then a large dragon on the back, with a certain color of wings."

 

Maiko listened intently. "What colour wings did you have painted on you? I guess you are really good at what you do." She to was watching Koza train. She hadn't really lied as he was as near to a brother as anyone she knew.
