"Let's go then. We can both discover what is in this room." Maiko grabbed his hand and pulled him into the room.

 

Suprisingly, the room still had many things in it, although there was a heavy cover of dust on everything.

"Now I know who's been taking everything from the house. It had to be the servants, which would explain why everything in this room would still be here. They were very loyal to mother and father and wouldn't dare enter their room."

 

"Well they can't have been that loyal if they defiled your home while you were away. They will never work for me, if I am to be noble then I want people around me I can trust. They tore the rest of the house apart and took everything they could."

 

"They probably did that because they had a grudge against me."

 

"You did nothing to them. This whole sorry event is due to the charm. How could they hate you?"

 

"They blame me for mother and father's deaths. Only we know the truth about. The charm also had something to do with it, I'm sure."

 

Maiko looked around. "Where shall we start? Nothing has been disturbed so it's time we did." She walked over to a chest. "What will we find in here I wonder?" She pulled out rich clothing and a casket containing scrolls. She passed them to Koza.

 

Koza held onto everything that was handed to him. He started looking through the scrolls.

 

"Is this too painful for you? I have no emotions as I lived a different life. I have found something interesting though. The floorboards are different over here as if they were laid later."

 

"Really? Let me pull them up." He said as he knelt down and pulled the boards up. A small, tattered book was inside.

 

Neka looked at the room, Kyo came into the room. "Onee-chan!"

"H-Hey, Koza," she said, walking up to him.

 

"What's the book about? I'd rather you looked, you did live here. Why do I feel like trashing this room?"

 

Koza leafed through a few pages of the book.

"This is mothers diary. There's not much in it, though. All of it was written after we were born."

 

"Well, it's probably about you. There won't be anything about me as they had already abandoned me....I didn't matter anymore."

 

"On the contrary, mother talks about you a lot in this dairy. According to this, She frequently sent servants out trying to find you and bring you back to the family, despite father telling her to forget about you. Reading this makes me hate father even more."

 

"They dumped me on a couple. They could have found me at any time. I'm sorry but I don't believe it. I know that my so called adoptive family never moved. I don't believe a word in that book. Did she feel sorry for herself then? At least your father was honest in his not wanting me."

 

"Then we'll use this book for kindling for burning the house. I don't really believe a word of it either. If mother truly cared about you, she would never abandoned you in the first place."

 

"Neither of them cared. It seems that I was useless to them and so expendable. What sort of parents treat a helpless child like that?"

 

"I don't know, but I don't want any connections to those heartless people anymore. I'm casting off the Ishida name."

 

"I never had it. I am just Maiko. I don't have a second name as I was told I never deserved one. I have stayed like that to remind myself how cruel life can be to the helpless."
