Maiko followed carefully. She was worried that Koza might get hurt. When they reached the top she breathed a sigh of relief.

 

"Thank goodness the stairs were still intact. If one of us ever moves in this house, we'll have to completely rebuild it."

 

"I won't as it was never my home. It's just another house to me. I think I would prefer to live elsewhere."

 

"I don't plan on moving back in here. Too many bad memories. I guess once we're through here, we can burn it down."

 

"That would probably be the best thing to do. It's not safe anyway and we don't want it used for ill purpose. We will still own the land it stands on."

 

"We could sell the land and move somewhere else."

 

"Nice, you can settle with your girlfriend then. Shall we look around. Where is the study?"

 

Koza pointed down a hall. "It's down this hall, 2nd door on the right. ANd she's not my girlfriend. I'm not even sure if I trust her now. You're the only person I know I can trust, sis."

 

"Ok, Ok. It's not the end of the world. So she isn't your girlfriend, well you need one. I am lousy at finding a husband, so you will have to find a wife to continue the family line. Coming into the study?"

 

"Sure." he said as he entered the study.

 

"What is in there?" Maiko entered the room and looked around sadly. "Not much left in here either."

 

"looks like there's a few history books, but not much else."

 

"We should keep those. Knowledge is the greatest treasure and there may be some family information in them. I guess I'm looking for a link to them."

 

Koza stowed the books in a pack. "I guess next would be the bedchambers."

 

"I will follow you. Tell me about the rooms when this house was lived in. I know so little."

 

Koza pointed at a door.

"That was my room. A few doors down was mom and dad's room. The other rooms were guest rooms."

 

"Lets see your room first. It seems that I may discover what you were like as a child. I real mischief maker I bet."

 

Koza kicked the door open as it was stuck.

"I haven't been this room in years..."

 

"It must be strange for you, coming back like this. I wonder whether I should be pushing you like this as it must bring back bad memories. Maybe I am lucky having been given away."

 

"No, it's alright. I would've ended up coming back here sooner or later anyway."
