"I feel like my life was stolen from me. Does that make sense. Imagine that one day you learned that everything you thought you knew about yourself was a lie. It's scary."

 

"I imagine it is. I can't begin to comprehend how you feel right now."

 

"Confused, unloved and unwanted mainly. I don't really know what to think. I just wish I didn't exist."

 

"You're not unwanted. I'm glad that you're here with me, sis."

 

"It's hard for me to imagine our parents as anything but evil. I mean, they abandoned me with strangers and never even checked up on me. They never really wanted me as they had their son and heir."

 

"To be honest, I wish they had left me behind instead of you. They always looked at me as their golden child. I wanted no part of it and frequently ran away, but they would always find me."

 

"At least you were the golden child and not the trash to be thrown away. I would have given the world to have parents who wanted me."

 

"I never wanted to be the golden child. Mother and father always expected so much from me. At times, I just couldn't take it."

 

"Pushy parents eh? I guess I never believed I had parents. I was told that they were dead. I was never hugged by my family." Maiko sat staring at the wall and tears began rolling down her cheeks.

 

"They always talked about you at night. I overheard some of their conversations. MOther wanted to go back for you, but father wouldn't allow it. I hate them for leaving you behind like that. If father were still alive, I'd give him a good thrashing."

 

Somehow that made it worse. Her mother had wanted her but couldn't get her back. "What...what happened to them?"

 

"Don't you remember me telling you? Uzuki had them killed and I was framed for their murders."

 

"Well I will never meet my real parents and my brother doesn't exactly like me so nothing really has changed. I'm considering going back to where I belong. It's not as if I know anything about this coro. Whatever path I follow I have no family or life that is stable. You will choose your own path when this is over and I will be left with nothing again. Doubtlessly you will run off with that bounty hunter."

 

"Why are you saying I don't like you? Of course I do. And as for me and Kaia, I don't think it's going to work. She ran off after you did. Apparently she dosen't like the fact that she has a bounty on her head."

 

Maiko smiled. "That is ironic considering she lives off collecting bounties off other people, so that makes her a hypocrite. I don't really like her anyway. She is cold to others and selfish. She acts as if her life is the most important. I was scared and confused."

 

"She was brought up to only care for herself, it's expected that she'd be insensitive to others. Knowing her kind, she'll probably come hunting me and try to kill me in an attempt to clear her name."

 

Yuki was looking Koza and Maiko, he heard what Koza said. "True. But she does accept that there's a bounty over her, and willing to give up her life as a bounty hunter, and be a normal person."

 

"If she really loved you she wouldn't. It's a girl thing and I know this. If she hunts you she doesn't really love you." Maiko checked the wounds and made some broth. "Here drink this and it will make you stronger."
