Dawn of the Samurai

Heedless to her safety, Maiko stepped forward to watch the fight. She had no idea who they were but was curious of the outcome.

 

He noticed something up ahead and his curiosity grabbed ahold so he stepped forward. He saw a boy with a drawn Katana and a girl with one too.A girl....using a katana....what has the world come to.....women are supposed to stay home and cook and take care of children, not be out here waving around a dangerous weapon like its a toy He sighed and then noticed another girl bearing a staff. He walked over, his feet making no sound on the soft dirt. He touched her shoulder lightly. "You might want to move away so you don't get injured."

 

"I'm not dying, right now!" Kaia shouted, attacking him.

 

"I'm afraid that you will. You should have just ran when I gave you the chance."

Koza fought with her for a while and disarmed her easily.

"Strangely, I'm feeling merciful today, so I'm going to let you live. If you want to stay among the living, I suggest you don't follow me." He said as he sheathed his blade and walked off.

 

'Fascinating' Maiko thought to herself. He could have killed her easily and if the tables were turned then she was sure that he would be dead. She wandered back into the street and continued on, pretending that she was unaware of what had just taken place.

 

Koza walked the streets when he ran across the llocal magistrate bullying the populace.

Government dog.....Still, it seems fate is on my side today. I can possibly get some answers out of him, while at the same time, rebuild my image with the common folk.

 

Maiko drew the cloak further around herself and made herself as small as possible. She could see the magistrate abusing his power again. Trying to slip round the group without being noticed she bumped into the stranger from earlier. "Sorry sir" she muttered, averting her eyes.

 

Koza just shrugged it off as he approached the magistrate. His guards surrounded Koza.

"Stand aside, worms, or feel the sting of my blade."

The guards ignored him and moved to attack. Koza dispatched them easily and grabbed the magistrate by the collar.

"I believe you already know who I am, so let's get down to business. You have some information on the assasination of the Ishida family. Tell me what you know and I might let you live."

The magistrate told Koza all that he knew.

"So it was orcestrated by the government. Your masters shall soon join you."

Koza beheaded the magistrate and walked on.

 

Maiko watched in horror and felt sick. This man had no remorse or feelings. She vowed to keep out of the psycho's way. He was dangerous. She disappeared into the crowd and ran to her friend's home.

 

Koza walked to the town gates.

It's time I move on. If I work my way up the chain of command, then I will be able to root out the person responsible for my family's murder. I had best pay my respect to them before I leave.

He headed toward the graveyard.

 

She shut the door and hid. That maniac stared into her eyes. She could feel his presence and it made her skin crawl. She would leave for a while. Packing her things, Maiko slipped out of town and began to travel again.

 

Koza prayed at the graves of his family and left town, all the while watching for hunters.

 

Maiko ran to begin with. She wanted to put as much distance between her and the stranger as possible. Fortunately he had ignored her but she wasn't taking any chances.

 

Koza walked along as he wiped the blood from his katana.

Why did all of this have to happen? Why did they want my family dead, and why go through the trouble of framing me?

 

'What kind of killer is he? Cold and unemotional. He will kill anyone who gets in his way.'

 

Koza stopped in his tracks. He felt like he was being watched.

 

Maiko stopped running. She was exhausted and couldn't run any more. It was as if she was on the verge of collapsing. Something hit her and she fell to the ground, sinking into darkness.

 

Koza heard a strange sound and went to investigate. The girl that bumped into him before was attacked by a bandit. Koza swiftly dealt with him and carried her to the nearest town. He left her at the inn while he went looking for the magistrate of this town.

 

Maiko woke up in a strange room, battered and bruised. How did she get there? She wondered if the mad man had attacked her. He would hunt for no reason she assumed.

 

Koza found no sign of the magistrate, so he went back to the inn for a drink.
