Kaia shouted to them, "Hey! What you're talking about was my Trail of the Hunter!"

 

"The sun's rising. We'd better head for the capital."

 

"No we are talking about balance and Koza's life if you must know. Sorry to disappoint you but you don't have to be on high brow training to understand karma and balance." Maiko grinned at this. "Do you think everything is about you?"

 

"Let's go, we're wasting daylight."

 

"Alright then. I am here to work remember, not on some blood quest. I will come with you but you can stop bossing me around." Maiko glared at him as she collected her things together.

 

"Right. Sorry about that." He said as he swung his pack over his shoulder. He walked outside, drew his sword and cut his hair.

 

"At least let me do that as you are making a mess of it. Then we will leave for the capital. I have some bread and water that will keep us sustained on the way."

 

"I would feel better if you did it anyway. I thought it was time for a new look."

 

"Then just relax and trust me. What are you thinking of doing with it?" Maiko looked at the previously hacked hair. He waste no time on elegance, but was purely functional. She cut the hair level and removed the tufts that he had created. "Well at least you look better now."

 

"Thanks." He said as he removed his glasses.

 

"You look wonderful without those. I will help you feel better about yourself and your life. We will sort out the past so that you can move forward. It will be good for you."

 

"What did I do to deserve a sister like you?"

 

"I'm not sure but you will discover that crime one day!" Maiko laughed. "Shall we start our journey then?"

 

"Let's get moving then."

 

"Do you actually have a sense of humour? You seem so serious and it's a shame as you were so handsome when you did smile."

 

"My sense of humor kind of died on that day. I wish you had met before then."

 

"I guess I'm not enough now then. That is a shame but you are stuck with me anyway."

 

"My sense of humor will come back in time, I'm sure."

 

"Well I really found a cheerful companion. I'm on a journey to Who Knows Where with a stranger who rarely smiles. Did I hit my head back there or something? Why am I not bothered when my common sense should be screaming 'stay here' to me?"

 

"Something may not be clicking in there. You want me to examine your head?"
