Help Database Errors

Should be the last of the homepage errors as well, knock on wood.

 

Another one, around an hour and a half ago, for approximately ten minutes.

 

After the one Amaury just said... there was a database error for several hours right after that one... I'm not sure how long it lasted for since I had to switch off in the end... and it's hard to calculate due to time differences... But it was definitely still going up to 5:00am (GMT) with no signs of recovering.
As I said, it may have lasted longer, but however long, I do not know since I had to turn off.

 

I also had that. It was about 10 minutes after I posted that.

I'm not sure if it was all night, but I went to bed around 11:00 PM (PDT), and I couldn't even get this working so I could log out for the night. =/

 

Wasn't working at 1 in the morning. Eastern time.

 

dang, that's one heck of a long DBE. I'm just wondering, how do they even come up anyways? Does something just enter the server and mess it up?

 

Server overload and bad maintenance from the its owner.

I wonder how much a decent server actually costs?
I really am curious about it.

 

A decent one would cost about 100$/month... but you can find more expensive and cheaper kinds. Right now this one costs about 280$.

So... if 280$ is how much this one costs, how come we get so many DB Errors?
I mean, at 280$ shouldn't we be on a pretty decent server?

Yeah, 100 for a dedicated server (meaning only one site in it).
This one is a shared server, more sites are located along with KHV. Shared servers are not good for obvious reasons. Plus the bad maintenance from SPdude as we said above. Who knows how much clutter there is in his server.

 

But, I still don't get that...
I mean, if this site is 280$ on a shared server, then why not pay the 100 for a dedicated server?... Surely that'd be better right? (Unless I'm mistaken, I'm not too sure about this stuff, but that's what it seems like)

 

Well, he would still have to pay the 280 for this server because he has more sites except khv in there, plus 100 more for khv only? Makes it 380 instead of the 280 he pays now. For us **** yeah it's the best for khv, but for him no, he has no benefit. It's not like khv is his only site. If it was then yeah the best idea was to move to a dedicated server and pay less. Get it?

And to keep my post semi on topic. These errors are probably not going to cease because of the server.

 

Don't be so quick to assume I know there is a good chance he will but that is off topic.
I know the DBE's are annoying and stuff but hey Misty and RvR are working hard. Cut them some slack.

 

Oh, I don't worry too much about the DBEs. They're annoying yes, but since there's nothing we can do to stop them, might as well make with what we've got

 

There was one yesterday and on Tuesday as well, but I didn't have the time to report them and I don't remember them now.

 

Yesterday's was intentional because Misty was fixing a table overload.

 

Not talking about that. I wasn't online when that happened. I'm talking about 36 hours ago or something.
