My favorite hobby is cosplaying. But I'm sorta a newbie, I'm planning on making a Dissidia Terra costume, Dagger's royal dress, and a few others. There is one small problem, I've never sewed before, but I am willing to try it if I can make the costumes!
Sewing's easy once you get the hang of it, trust me. I had no clue what I was doing at first, but after some practice I got the hang of it. I'm a bit of a newbie/amateur myself. I can't sew from scratch; I'm the kind of person who shops thrift stores to find parts to her costumes. That's how I made Reno at least. My Axel cosplay was a modified Grim reaper robe, where I sewed the zipper and beads on myself. That was my first cosplay ever.
So awesome that you love to cosplay. I cosplay myself. Characters that I have been are Seto Kaiba, High Priest Seto, Sesshomaru and Demyx. It's a load of fun, but it takes a lot of time to get everything the way you want it.
I plan on cosplaying to my next con (its all the way in June, sadly. WHY CAN'T YOU COME QUICKER, A-KON?!?!!?) as Nemesis from Resident Evil along with a whole bunch of my friends, who also plan on going as Resident Evil characters.
Omg, I've always wanted to cosplay! Man! So, I guess it's all about the sewing, huh? Darn, sounds like loads of work. x.x Lol, I remember going to supercon once and I saw a lot of people cosplaying as Haseo form .hack//G.U, THE green ranger(Well made btw), and force unleashed Apprentice(well made too). I saw link, but it wasn't as good as it could've been. HHHMMM, maybe I should give it a try?
http://www.kh-vids.net/album.php?albumid=1736 this is my hobby! one day it will be perfect! X3 im getting a new wig and the contacts and new boots for Demyx! but i love cosplay! so far ive been Demyx, Roxas, Female Animal Relam Pain, Misa Misa, L, Envy, Orgy XIII Riku, Hojo, Ash Ketchum, Aqua BBS. tis fun!
I've been cosplaying for about.... oh almost 3 years now? My first con was A-kon 19 and I cosplayed a TERRIBLE yuffie XD All the other stuff I've done is Sebastian (kuroshitsuji), Noodle (Gorillaz), Axel, and Agito (Air Gear). I also did Red XIII from FFVII but I don't have any pics up yet. I'm more on the photography side of cosplay now, because I really have a knack for photography. All my friends always want me to do photoshoots for them x3 But I still cosplay! I'm planning on doing GLaDOS (Portal), Rave Larxene (with my Demyx!), Daniella (Haunting Ground) Azula (Avatar: TLA) and Nall (Lunar 2) And if you're getting into cosplay, it's not as hard work as you think. Well, yeah it's work, but you don't have to make it THAT hard. For me and my cosplays, I really don't sew anything from scratch. I take what I have, or what I can buy from the store and edit it to where it will work out for my character. I mean yeah, sometimes if you don't have the skill you might need to buy a cosplay, like I bought my org coat. But it's really not that hard. And wigs, once you get the hang of them, aren't hard either.
I agree, sewing is a very easy and fun thing to learn. My whole family knows to sew, but, me and my grandmother like to the most. It saves me a lot of wasted money on bags for school and such. Cosplaying, I have a old akatsuki coat that my friend gave me before moving away and I've only worn it for sleeping sadly... =X
I've cosplayed a few times and went to a few cons but unfortunateky it feels kinda like halloween, and some people at cons are just really obbessive about it like i was cosplaying as Tomoya from Clannad and apperently i didn't walk like her r something. Anyways i just think it's something i like to do but once a while though. It felt werid being someone else, next con i'm gonna be me XD
Yeah, some people like to get in character and it's interesting but sometimes way overdone. Like when you're at the McDonalds across the street and you just want to enjoy your coffee but someone who's cosplaying from the same series just HAS to fangirl over you and won't stop talking Dx
Sometimes those random encounters can be fun though. This year I was Reno at a con over Easter weekend, and on Easter Sunday I was in the dealer's room browsing merch when I heard someone clear their throat behind me. I whip around and it's someone dressed as Tseng. The following ensued: T: Why aren't you working...? R: I....am doing research on the effects of these...things...-squeezes Pichu doll, ears wiggle-..on the public....? -grin- T: I see. There will be a report on this later, am I right? R: Well, uh... T: -crosses arms- R: It's Easter, sir. T: -lifts eyebrow in a "i'munimpressedplz" manner- R: But don't worry, Rude will have on your desk by noon. Random Rude walking by: Forget it, Reno. R:-looks at watch- K, bye now! -takes off- I met up with that Tseng later and was told that was the best random encounter she had all weekend, and it made her day because I was the only Reno she got to pull that stunt on (seriously. Including myself there were only 4 Renos that whole weekend)
Lmao that's gold! Yeah I love acting in character at cons but I can't stand it when people take it too far outside of one x3
I love cosplaying <3 even thought im also a bit new to it . Its so fun. Some of the best memories i have at a con where cuz i was cosplaying . My favorite one that i've done so far is a Shy Guy from super mario bros.
I agree there. I met my boyfriend (who is amazing!) at a Ghost in the Shell photoshoot, he was cosplayed as Batou and I was Motoko. It was great--especially for my first cosplay. I'm not sure who to do for this coming con.... hmmm... O.O MAYBE an Organization member. Coats are just so expensive and pleather is a BEEOTCH to work with xD.
Cosplay...Gotta love it, have to hate it. Great as it is, the general fanbase gives it a horrendous name. Glad to see other cosplayers on here these days, I don't remember seeing many when I first joined.
This sounds so amazing. And I always thought cosplay must be very fun to do and I'm always impressed by the costumes, even if they're not exactly that great or if the cosplayer is questionable...but still, I don't know how to sew either, so I probably won't cosplay for a time until I learn how. Still, I think if you try your hardest on a costume and you put your heart into it, even if you're unskilled, I'm sure people will appreciate your effort.
