What would you like to see cosplayed in real life? I'm going to an event in early April and need ideas for a costume. So far, all I can think of is either a teched out Kanti costome where the chest opens up to show speakers and a PSP screen, or being Red from Pokemon and programming a robot Pidgey to run around and flap its wings. The reason for all the electronics is because I'm learning how to program microcontrollers and I really want to win 1st place in the annual contest.

Is this your first time? If so, start out with something simple and easy to make. I myself am an aspiring cosplayer who hopes to be able to make a ether a Sora cosplay or my personal Org XIII Nobody, Daxam.

If I had to choose, I'd pick Soranort.

You should cosplay a smurf, or the nyan cat.

I know i'll be going to MTAC 2012. I'm buying an Organization XIII cloak and wearing it so i'll be going as my roleplay creation, Gexln. I'm considering making a replica weapon too.
But yeah, go with something simple if its your first time. If not, then hey you could choose almost any character you want! Sky's the limit!

Definitely stick with simple for your first convention. It's much less of a headache, especially if you've not been to the particular area before.
As for the Pidgey, I caution you that if the convention you're going to is of a decent size, it may end up getting damaged or broken. In a lot of cons there's small spaces with a lot of people, plus there's always the risk of weeaboos, so just be careful with what you bring with you. Check the rules of the con too.
I'm risking a loophole exception with my bow and soft-tipped arrows for the New York Comic Con/Anime Festival since I'm cosplaying Katniss from The Hunger Games, but only because I've been there before and have seen what does slip by sometimes.

I would definantly like to see Endrance from .hack//G.U. cosplayed in real life. http://images.wikia.com/dothack/images/3/3c/Endrance.jpg

I'm a cosplayer myself, and I recently went to Anime Blues Con in July. I cosplayed Miyuki Takara from Lucky Star. It was an easy cosplay, but the long wig is really hard to keep neat and untangled.

I'm going to the same convention that Dr_Wigglz is next, MTAC 2012. I started going there in 2009. My cosplay for 2012 is undecided, but I'm leaning towards the RED Team Medic from TF2.

It wasn't technically a cosplay, but, for my school's spirit week, Wednesday was Cowboys and Aliens day, so I dressed up as The Doctor as he appeared in the episode of Doctor Who titled The Eleventh Hour. It's pretty much just regular clothes.

Cosplay the death note, and by that i mean the book itself. Paint a cardboard box black, get another peice of cardboard and attach it to the front with large sheets of paper in between. Get someone extremely good at art to draw the rules pages and cover, then charge people to write names in it.

    Go as a Companion Cube.

I saw a great one two years ago at Anime Boston, it was about 4 feet wide and rolled around on wheels. The person inside stalked random people and followed them around.

Or you could always be Missingno.

I'm a veteran cosplayer myself, but my first cosplay was Axel. Big mistake, I found myself getting frustrated at many of the more complicated details.

This will be my 3rd time cosplaying.

I'm making the costumes for MTAC. Last year, I had an Umbreon fursuit and before that, Kanti from FLCL.

This year, I'm learning a lot about robotics and programming in school and really want to put that in my costume. Last year, I got beat out as the best Pokemon costume by people who put circuit boards into their stuff (a Blastoise with light up cannons that should shoot out bubbles, a Charizard who could light up his tail) and I really want to put up a good fight for the number one spot. I'm trying to find something that can WOW the audience and make sure that people applaud like crazy. It may sound kind of bad, but I want to be the best in show.

:registro5B15D:Then what about something like a rock for a Geodude? XD

Or you could always go as a Pikachu that flashes yellow?

I've been thinking about dressing as Trainer Red and making a little robotic Caterpie. It'll follow me around using a "follow emf" program then just attaching coil with a decently strong battery on to my ankle should be enough. I'd probably make a smaller microcontroller fit into a Pokeball so that I can shut off the emf's battery without touching it and install 3 more programs into Caterpie that a) tells the Caterpie to just run forward to me if there is no emf so I won't have to chase it b) activates a small pressure system to shoot silly string if I push a different button on the Pokeball, an 3) a fail-safe program that completely shuts off the Caterpie if it starts acting up.

The main problem with this idea, as DPWolf stated, it that cons are usually crowded. Having a small robotic Caterpie (or Pidgey) is just begging to have it stepped on or stolen. :(

With the Geodude and Pikuchu idea, Geodude would be hard to get though a door and walk around in. Pikachu would involve bulking out the stomach and I can't seem to do that correctly (even after many attempts).
