"Ease up on your fire! Remember this is our area, there are friendlies out there too. Only shoot at suspicious characters" Drake scolded Garrus as he flew into position.

 

Alistair shot down a squad of figita's that where heading towards the Ark. "Be careful of friendly fire" Alistair said to Garrus.

 

Drake momentarily switched his com to send to the ship "Let us know if they send any pilots our way. I don't want to mistake backup for conspirators here" As Drake said he fired at a few ships that were aiming at longer shots. Ordinarily he would ignore them since long shots were less accurate and easy to out maneuver, but since any shots that missed them were going to hit the Ark he couldn't allow that

 

"Don't worry, I have an Identification System on here, so I know who's who. I'm not just shooting like a wild man out here." Garrus fired at more MHWs with his Beam Rifle.

 

Drake's response came slowly since the rail gun took a lot of concentration to use properly. "This is a Coup D'etat. Your scanners should be showing all of them as friendly. You need to target based o behaviors. And remind me to check those scanners later."

 

"Damn... hadn't thought of that..." Garrus stopped firing and pulled out his Beam Sword.

 

Alistair disabled a seran and turned on a com to Drake. "Sir, don't you think its odd the empire ships haven't attacked, even though we are fighting amongst ourselves?" Alistair asked Drake over the coms.

 

"This battle is hard enough with you worrying about politics, kid. Let's just get the ship out of port and we can worry about that later." Drake responded. Switching off his com out he said "Gradius, what is the dammage level to the Ark?"

An electronic voice that was neither masculine or feminine answered. "Light damage to the rear hull. All functions normal."

"Good. Inform me to any changes in status."

 

Alistar was angry had being ignored. He flew away from the Ark and towards the empire ships.

 

Drake slid over to cover more of Alistar's position. "Damn it! Anastasis, slide over to port-stern corner to fill in the gaps. Trios, what the hell do you think you're doing?"

 

"I am going to go and see if my theory is correct, you wouldn't listen and this is literly a life or death siruartion" Alistair said as he flew out of the port and out of visual range.

 

Drake wanted to retort but the kid wasn't going to listen anyway. "Drake Dwyer to bridge. Alistair Trios has gone AWOL. I can't afford to send my second man after him. Anything to accellerate departure is appeciated" Switching his com again he continued to Garrus. "Try not to hit Trios if you can avoid it. However, protecting the ship is more important than protecting him."

 

"Hmm... well, given the circumstances, I don't think protecting his sorry behind is on my mind right now. All I care about is the damn ship." Garrus slid over to cover the port-stern corner and sliced some MHWs that he thought were acting odd.

 

"Understood" the Ark's bridge operator said. As the battle continued the Federation forces seemed to calm down, either the coup forces one or defeated was currently unknown. The Ark and Coalition transport where almost out of the port.

 

Especially with the battle slowing the combinationof Garrus close range and Drakes long range was proving to be effective. "Alistair, the battle is declining. What is your status?"

 

Alistair didn't respond for awhile. "Do not let the Ark launch, its a ambush. The enemy fleet isn't out here, they are only IFF Beacons" Alistair said on the coms after a littlewhile, the message was patchy and parts of it where missing.

 

"Bridge hold departure! Possible ambush! Garrus hold off remaining hostiles stern side. I'll scout out the bow." Before Drake had even finished his sentance, much less given anyone time to, he was already moving. "Gadius full radar on HUD, transparency 40%"

 

The radar showed large amounts a debrie where the nearest Federation patrols where meant to be. It also showed heat sources the size of capital ships along the Colony Port hull and smallerones, about the size of four MHW's each digging into the hull. All this had been missed in the Coup'deta confusion.

The Ark haulted its advance just at the exit of the port. Its main front quad cannon aimed out into space.

 

"Secondary attack confirmed, Federation patrols eliminated. Taking responsive action." Drake fired the rail gun at the MHWs as soon as they came in range and instatly followed up on the ship as he moved into position under the Ark's quad cannon. The Striker Kai had superior ranged capability to most other MHWs currently, and if anyone were to approach him they would enter the range of the cannon. "Gradius, automate evasive manuevers"

 

" So, I have already told you my story, but how about you? I don't think I have heard anything about your past."
